There Are No Electrons: Electronics for Earthlings by Kenn Amdahl

Perhaps the clearest introduction to the concepts and vocabulary of electricity ever written. Certainly the goofiest. Explains concepts like capacitance, voltage and inductance in such a simple, memorable way you'll learn them in spite of yourself. You'll certainly smile while doing so and may laugh out loud. In print since 1990, this book has become a cult classic. With its oddball, smart aleck humor, it is often credited with inspiring all the books for dummies and idiots. Blurbs by Dave Barry, Clive Cussler, Ray Bradbury, George Garrett and many more.

I was so pleased to see this book available electronically, I've recommended and loaned it to so many people over the last 20 years and have always been thanked profusely after they read it. This guy Amdahl makes understanding the core basics of the theories that are electricity easy and fun. The trained elephant becomes just a little less intimidating.

I'm not sure why Amazon has over 50 fabulous customer reviews of this title and Barnes and Noble has none. If you like to read and have a goofy sense of humor but are a little intimidated by the idea of learning about voltage and capacitance, this is the book for you.

This book is incredible. Whether you're a beginner or an expert in the field, this book will take to the world of electricity using a unique style. If you're at all interested in electricity, you have to read this book.

My high school physics teacher recommended this book back in 1993. I only recently found it at a Barnes and Noble a couple of months ago. I have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and I really wish I had this as a textbook prior to taking my circuit design and solid-state electronics classes. If you have any interest in the realm of electricity, you must read this book!

Don't bother with this book if you have no sense of humor. In fact, don't bother with much of anything. But do try to have a sense of humor, because this book is THE MOST CLEAR AND ENTERTAINING EXPLANATION OF BASIC PRINCIPLES OF ELECTRICITY I've come across in my wanderings, and it would be a shame for you to miss it.
