In this book I met young Karla Stevens, a white teenager, and her best friend Marcy, who's half white half black, and many other townspeople of Pinelake, North Carolina. It takes a thoughtful look at some of the racial conflicts of the south, and internal conflicts of the characters. The book has somewhat of a dark mood, but the ending was promising. It's a short novel, so it's good if you don't have much time to read. The story is told by the viewpoints of many different characters which I really liked.
