Thief with No Shadow by Emily Gee

Nominated for two RITA Awards in 2008: Best First Book and Best Novel with Strong Romantic Elements

Aided by the magic that courses through her veins, Melke is able to walk unseen by mortal eyes. When a necklace she has stolen holds the key to both saving her brother’s life and breaking a terrible curse, she must steal it back from a den of fire-breathing salamanders. Things are about to get very tough for Melke, especially when she comes to realize she may have to trust the very people who were out to kill her.

Thief With No Shadow is a rich, romantic fantasy tale set in a world where the ordinary and extraordinary coexist, where nightmarish creatures live alongside men, and magic runs in the blood of mortals.

Don’t Miss Emily Gee’s other books: The Sentinel Mage and The Laurentine Spy.

Pretty good for a first book but not much excitement. Not enough happens with a simple plot. Characters are likeable so maybe a sequel could add more excitement and adventure for them.

the book summary/synopsis is very misleading. i was expcting a darker world. there was practically no plot. the characters just spent most of the time in a sickbed or watching over someone in the sickbed. one word to sum up this book is LAME. don't bother with it.

This book is one that you never want to put down. It may start off a bit rocky, since you do not knowing all of the information, but that is one of the things that kept this book so addictive! The more you read, the more intranced you become until you have to know what happens. It is an amazing read that I would recommend to anyone.
