In the foreword of this book, you get to see a photo of Lynette and learn about her passion for gardening which is where she gets her inspiration for her quilts. For this book, she has taken a ¿whole day¿ theme --- morning light to evening glow. We also get to see photos of her garden as the chapter¿s progress. Seven quilts, 3 pillows, 2 wall quilts, a set of placemats, 2 table runners and a table square make up the projects presented in QUILTING A PATCHWORK GARDEN. All the patterns are in earth tones and, of course, have some garden connection to them. Flowers whether in the material or as the pattern, a quilt square called a Daisy Chain and even some fruit give you a wide variety of designs to pick from. Each project has a full color photo of the item. The instructions include the finished size, a fabrics and supplies list and directions on how to create the blocks. There are lots of graphics in the piecing directions to help you visualize what the directions say. Binding and a quilting suggestion are provided. Some of the projects require templates and they are included as well. The last section is an extensive one, 17 pages, on general instructions including things such as squaring up blocks, rotary cutting hints on sewing with flannel and defining various types of quilting patterns. This is a book you will want to get to add to your library. Once you have it, pick a pattern and have a great time making them with great instructions to keep you on the right path.
