Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
There are plenty of board books available that present the concept of machines or vehicles. This one features a familiar character, Harold of Harold and the Purple Crayon fame. Harold and his dog Lilac head off on a motorcycle, but when the page is turned Harold is driving a dump truck. That is the format, each spread presents Harold driving a different type of vehicle including a speedboat, a unicycle, space ship, ice cream truck, fire engine (actually Lilac is driving that one), and a taxi cab. There is no real story just a series of scenes. The concluding pages follow the normal end of Harold's adventures; he heads on home under a crescent moon and goes to bed. 2005, HarperCollins, Ages 2 to 4.
