My life had a plan. Until he invaded it and stole it all away. My captor took me and I became a pawn.

His strategy changed and he sent me away to WAR, because money is everything in this world.

In my WAR, though, I found peace.

I couldn’t help but find love where I least expected it, with a man who lived a battle every day of his life
…all inside his head.

But then my captor came back for me.
Yet, this time, battle lines had been drawn and I was protected.

So we thought.
Even though my WAR was raging,
my captor would fight to the death.

The good guys always win, right?
Not always.

All’s fair in love and WAR, right?
Not this time.

This is War, Baby is a dark romance. A really dark one. So dark you’re going to wish you had a flashlight to see yourself to the end and someone to hold your hand. Strong sexual themes that could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. This story is NOT for everyone.

The cheese factor is so high, I wanted to give this one stars. A plot that started with so much potential quickly deteriorated, to the point where I felt like I was watching a bad 80's Steven Segal movie. Case in point, her love interests name is Warren, so his nickname is War, and (because the main character is an extension of him) he calls her Peace. War's father has an equally ridiculous name (Loveland LMFAO) and the puns just keep coming. Every other page is full of gems that make it difficult to get through with a straight face. For example: Oh,” he says with a shy voice and turns to flick his gaze down over my body, “I want you to know that you look really nice. Pink is a great color against your flawless skin. With your blonde hair spilling out over the top of it, you remind me of an autumn sunset behind the ocean. Simply beautiful." "...the strength with which he struck me..." And the list goes on. If you miss early 90's Lifetime Movies, and enjoy characters with the emotional maturity of a 12 year old- look no further. This is the book for you!

.5 stars I am late to the War & Peace party. I put it off knowing I was behind but nagging from a certain Becky kept them fresh in my mind. I didn't read the blurb. I knew I would enjoy them because I love the way the author writes. I didn't read reviews. I went in blind. I did read the warning and for a whole three seconds I got worried. You see, I read dark romance all the time now. I used to fear it. I used to think it would haunt my dreams and dredge up terrible memories. I think for some it may. If you fear that kind of response, try a lighter dark romance though this is not even close to the darkest I've read, it does connect you to the character. You will experience fear and loathing as well as affection. So if you can't comprehend that, it's cool. The author writes some pretty kick butt books that aren't dark. But if the naughty little minx hiding in your eyes smirks at the danger, then this book will captivate you. I started my binge read of the series in preparation for the final book. I am diving in with everything I am. I have left a trail of probably 50 messages to my book buddies as I go. It will be a process. It started like this... -You guys are gonna hold my hands right?!?! This is war baby a minute passes... - Holy f@ck! I wasn't even done with the first couple of pages. The comments went on into the night and each becomes a bit more crazed, intense, loving, filled with disbelief, angry, needy, and hopeful. I listed my immediate concern about who was involved. I might have even considered doing a flow chart to prove my point but I was too caught up in this world created by a monster. Too caught up in surviving, concentrating on what was next, how to escape...and even a part of me contemplated staying... But don't worry, I (cough) I mean Baylee did what she had to. She does it with a strength many would be jealous of. But in this twisted fairytale she learns more than she bargained for. As the first installment of War & Peace came to close the last thing I could possible feel was contentment- no, I felt rage, anger, disbelief, and devastation. But cheer up because This Is Love, Baby is waiting for me. reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood

It took me a while to gather my thoughts enough to leave my review of this awesome book!! I was sucked in right from the beginning and the crazy ride didn't let up, especially at the end of the book!! Yes there is a cliffhanger, but luckily the next book is now out, so I suggest you buy both right now!! This story is VERY dark, just like I love my books, because they pull me through so many different emotions, and this book did not disappoint!! I highly recommend this book and I'm not going to go into specifics about this book because you need to come to your own feelings from beginning til end, enjoy the ride!! Go, buy it, NOW!!!

Wow, it's been a while since I've read a book that's similar to Beneath the burn by Pam Godwin. So, it's safe to say that I freaking looooved it!!! I love the raw and gritty and filthy stuff that the author throws at our 'innocent' minds. This is not a light-hearted read and it's definitely not for everyone. If you don't like sexual and psyhical abuse, humiliation and above all enslavement, then please move on. The rest of you perverted minds, welcome! This story is devided in two main parts but for me there were three. First we get to see a glimpse of Baylee as the normal teenager with a normal boyfriend Brandon. Then the story transitions to where she gets taken by Gabe and is then trained to become a mindless sexual slave. In the final and my favourite part we get to see her being bought by Warren (War). Let me just say that I loathe Gabe! He's a true monster, a sociopath, sadist and a slave trader. His MO is to kidnap young women and then break their spirits only to train and turn them into sexual slaves that would literally do anything and I mean anything their new master comands them to do. But his only weaknes is his neaghbour's daughter Baylee. Over the years he became completely obsessed with her and views her as his. He still intents to sell her but he's determined to get her back later at any costs. What Baylee has to go through with Gabe in those two weeks that he's had her was trully horrendous. He managed to take her purity and taint it with his filthy body, take her innocent young mind only to turn it into his later downfall. Baylee is a true fighter and a dang good actress that knows what she must say and do, if she wants to stand a chance to get free from him and all that try to imprison her. But after being bought by War her biggest battle is yet to come. What happens when the new monster turns out to be a saint? And what happens when she starts to feel the inimaginable? Let's just say that I liked War a heck of a better than Gabe. I'm not gonna give away anything that happened between Bay and War but one thing is for sure. Read the book, you won't regret it!!! All that's left to say is, dear author, job well done!

K. Webster took me on quite a ride with this one. Baylee is a 17-year-old girl who is just finding herself. Her life as she knows it is ripped away from her by someone she trusts. The living hell she endures was tough to read. When she finally gets "sold" she meets War. He has issues a mile wide and just as long but he is endearing. His story is also tough to take and these two start to bring out the best in the other one. The ending leaves you needing answers so it will be interesting to see how this all wraps up. It was quite graphic and uncomfortable at parts of this and is not for people with trigger issues.

This book! Wow! It's sick, it's twisted and I need to know what happens next! This first part of the book when Baylee is kidnapped is horrendous...every girls nightmare. I wasn't sure I would be able to finish the story because it was just so hard to read. But then when she gets sold things could have gotten so much worse but she actually gets saved by the man who buys her. It's still no fairytale love story. There is so much that is disturbing but I admit, I'm hooked and I need to finish this series, it's not going to be easy waiting for the next book. I'm just glad the wait isn't too long and I'm so hopeful this will end on a high note. If it doesn't, I won't be glad I read this series. I guess that's the chance you take with a story that's labeled dark. Take the warnings of this book seriously. ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

WOW!!! This is the first book I have read by this author but I will definitely be reading more. ***WARNING*** This is War, Baby is a dark romance. A really dark one. So dark you’re going to wish you had a flashlight to see yourself to the end and someone to hold your hand. Human trafficking, dubious consent, and strong sexual themes that could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. This story is NOT for everyone. That warning is not to be taken lightly. In many ways this may have been one of the rawest books I've read & I am a fan of dark romance. The things that were done to Baylee are atrocious. But after she was sold I began to think: Well, this is bad." While her time with War isn't nearly as dark, it is still very intense. And THEN... That's all you're going to get. I don't write spoilers, EVER!!! But I DO recommend this book!!! My only problem with it is that it ends on a cliffhanger. The good thing is that the next book is coming soon!!!

As soon as I finished this book I wrote this on Goodreads "I have no words. This book was so incredible I don't know how to write a review. As soon as I can gather my thoughts about the amazingness I just read, I will write a full review." In some ways I still feel like that. How am I going to review this and express the amazingness without being spoilery? I will say that it is not an easy read and please heed the following warning : "This is War, Baby is a dark romance. A really dark one. So dark you’re going to wish you had a flashlight to see yourself to the end and someone to hold your hand. Human trafficking, dubious consent, and strong sexual themes that could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. This story is NOT for everyone." My Thoughts This book starts off like any romance involving high school age people, but you are quickly thrown for a loop. This part of the story was seriously hard to read, but at the same time I was compelled to keep reading because of Baylee. I loved her character from the start. She was strong, smart and seeing the events through her eyes made the story a little bit easier to read. So the basics... she was kidnapped by a crazy, intense, messed up man who has claimed her as his own. He will stop at nothing to keep her, and that is where he is truly terrifying. Enter War the man she was sold to. This part of the story was still hard to read but in a different way. War is a broken man that also happens to be a gorgeous rich young man who has a slew of mental issues and is in a prison of his fears and obsession. War... I loved War. His obsessions were debilitating and it was heartbreaking. Ever time we got to see the world through his POV I fell a little harder for him. It was so real and brutal and beautiful that your heart breaks while you swoon. They are an old couple at first but as they start sharing and trusting each other they from something that neither of them expects but both welcome. She is his peace and he is her savior, until it is all wrecked again by her kidnapper and tormentor. At the end we are left with more questions that we started with, but it has been a week since I read this book and I still can't get these characters out of my head, luckily there is not a very long wait for book two. I cannot wait to revisit these characters and get answers. I highly recommend this book if you can handle a little darker of a read and some uncomfortable situations. I was hooked from the first word and could not put this down. I felt compelled to finish this book and am so happy that I did. K. Webster's writing in this book is phenomenal. She can take a monster and make you feel for him, and at the same time fear and loathe him. Everything about this story felt so real and raw and beautiful that I have a feeling this will be one of my go to books.

Hearts, flowers, long walks on the beach, staring into each other’s eyes. **HELL NO!! NOT IN THIS BOOK! HEED THE WARNING THE AUTHOR WROTE ABOUT THIS BOOK.** Every turn of the page, I was thinking, “Oh no she didn’t”, and KWeb certainly f$%^ing did! This author has hit her stride writing these dark erotic reads. I was on the edge of my seat for most of this read. I can’t even!! The twists and turns in the plot jerked me and pulled me in deeper. Like, “crazy don’t even look at me while I’m reading” deep. This is a raw, gritty, painful, traumatic story, but there is also something that builds and made me appreciate the suffering. Despite it all I kept looking for hope and like bread crumbs leading me to the end of this book K.Web left a trail of them for me to gobble up. It made the sweet (there are a few moments like that) that much sweeter. I won’t kid you there is a lot of evil and suffering in Baylee’s story, but I was grateful for those few moments of vulnerability that showed the survivor inside of her. I can’t begin to explain this cast that K. Webster has brought together. Gabe, (who is evil incarnate), Baylee’s parents, Land, and so many more including the two characters that I grew quite fond of, Baylee and War. I felt pushed to my boundaries and every time I turned a page it was for Baylee. I felt every emotion, the bad the good, the gut wrenchingly awful ones, the fear, and the hopelessness. All of it! And War!! OHMYF#$%INGGOD! WAR! His nickname says it all. Every battle with those inner demons that threaten to pull him under, I mean WOW. I have never read a more f#$%ed up character, but I wanted to know every wound that was part of his mind. These two meet under such dire circumstances for them both, but they melded together in the most imperfectly perfect way. This book will hold you by your throat and rob you of every breath you take from the prologue to the very end. K. Webster takes you to the darkest parts of your mind and pushes you over the edge. The lines of right and wrong are obliterated, and are irrevocably changed after reading this story. There are stories that stick with you for a variety of reasons and this one is by far a book I will not ever forget. I am forever changed by Baylee. I want more, need more, crave it like the twelve to eighteen breaths I take per minute. XO Nikki Delightfully Dirty Reads

This is one of the best books that I have read. It is a truly dark read but if you can get past the darkness, there is a beautiful love story. This book tackles very dark and difficult subjects including sex trafficking, lack of consent, mental illness, and others that I won't mention because I don't want to give away any of the story. This book is also a book that shows hope and love and what the combination of the two can do for a person. There are questions that are not answered in the book and it does end in a cliffhanger. If you aren't a cliffie person then I suggest you wait until the next book comes out. Fortunately, the wait for the next one won't be long. If you can handle the cliffie, then read it NOW. It is a must read for anyone who can handle a dark read. Five stars isn't enough for this book. The author outdid herself on this book. Loved it!! (ARC received)

This is the hardest book I've ever had to read. This book broke me... This book is a test. It plays with your mind. Messes with your heart. And destroys your soul. And I loved every single second of it. I cannot tell you how much I loved this book. This book will make you hate it, you will hate the author, you will hate yourself, because for some strange reason you will like what is being done to the MC. And then you will love it. You will fall in love with the words, you will (strangely) fall in love with the pain. You will fall in love with the author. You will fall in love with Baylee and War. So, I have to warn you, this book will not be easy to get through. But it is worth it. It is worth every single torture, every single tear. War and Baylee hold a special place in my heart. And while I think K Webster is a twisted sadistic person, I love her. I wish you luck on your journey. Because you might hate this book, you might hate the things it makes you feel, but at the end, you might just love it. Just trust me, give this book a chance.
