I was a pawn.
Weak and someone easily manipulated.
To be played with as he saw fit.
YOU shone light in my now dark world.
It was YOU who made me smile.
For the first time in this game, I had hope.
All because of YOU.
The more powerful pieces on the board, however, were a threat to YOU and me.
They would win at any cost.
Two kings ruling with an iron fist.
Allies or opponents, it was hard to tell.
YOU promised to save me.
Told me we would win.
But then I was on the wrong side of the board.
This isn't YOU, baby.
And I don't know what to do.
The game is almost over and I'm counting on YOU.

This is what evil looks like baby! If you thought Baylee was having a rough time, Brie is definitely not having a picnic. There situations are similar but so very different. After everything you have seen and been through in this series, you would think/hope the author couldn't shock you any more...but oh yes she can. As with any good story she leads you down a path and you can almost tell where it's going to go but the curves can be deadly. K Webster doesn't know how to sugar coat or fluff it up. No, she goes straight for the jugular, grabs a hold, and squeezes so minutely that you almost have no idea she is cutting off your oxygen. You just smile as you blackout. The warning promises that you will love, you will hate, and you will react. It will not disappoint. Hmm, she has more likeness to her characters than she admits... Some people reading this won't know that I started this series at 9PM on Tuesday. When I woke up Wednesday morning, I finished This Is War, Baby. I then read This Is Love, Baby and because I couldn't stop there I read This Isn't Over, Baby by 7 PM of Wednesday.I started This Isn't You, Baby at 9:30PM Wednesday. As I type this, it is 2AM Thursday. I have not been able to stop devouring these books. One story after another bleeds into the next and my greedy, grabby hands need more. I need MORE!!!! Oh, um, I already have it....Sorry, must be signs of addiction setting in...
I loved the first books. I was excited to see this was another in the series. I have tried to find the 3rd book but can't. I am anxious to read more. This one ended with a cliffhanger and I am a lot upset because there isn't a predicted date for the next book or anything. It is really good but short.
Lies Warning: This Isn’t You, Baby is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes, excessive drug use, and violence, which could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. If you are sensitive to dark themes, then this story is not for YOU. This story will make YOU smile. This story will make YOU angry. This story will make YOU crazy. I hope YOU love it, baby. After his sister Hannah murdered Brie's mother and then her father Gabe and Hannah ran off together, Ren's father promised Gabe they'd keep an eye on her. (You'll have to read This Isn't Over, Baby #3 to find out why). Since then Ren has been Brie's adoptive parents summer lawn boy for three years. Within that time Ren has fallen head over heels in love with Brie and would do anything for her. The problem is he cannot tell her he's in love with her because he hasn't told her who his sister is and why he was originally sent there. Even by omission it's a lie that hangs over them like a dark cloud, and lies always come out. Although her adopted father has always leered at her like he wants to consume her. He's also groomed her from the beginning to be married off as soon as she turns 18 to one of Camilo Rojas 3 sons. Whom is his business partner, and one of the richest men in Colombia, his cocaine empire is virtually untouchable by the American feds. This will join their two families, but Brie is in love with Ren. After finding out that she and Duven will be married the morning of her birthday she gives herself to Ren. After Duven rescues her from her adoptive father's house he tells her she can see whomever she wants as long as she returns to him each night. But things change quickly. What happens between Ren and Brie? Things get pretty intense in this story (the whole series), but it's worth reading! This is the 4th book in the series, although I missed the first two, I've enjoyed reading on to see how the story continues to unfold. This one as with at least book 3 (since that's the only other one I've read so far) doesn't technically end on a cliffhanger but, it does leave you dangling with a bite of who book 5 will be about. And of course ends on a high dramatic climax, with you wanting book 5 to be ready now! I'll be looking forward to not only getting my greedy hands on it, but re-reading the completed series when K. Webster is finished with it. I received an ARC via IndieSage through Book Funnel in exchange for an honest blog tour review. Please be ADVISED before reading this book, I feel that I need to advise you and all future readers that in all likelihood this book may have some valid triggers that you as a reader may find objectionable or repulsive. So PLEASE if you have a prejudice viewpoint regarding drug use/addiction that you cannot set aside while reading a fictional story, then please STOP reading and find another book. It would be unreasonable & unfair to the author if you read and then rated their work poorly based on personal feelings instead of the fictional work the produced. If you do decide to continue reading, HAPPY READING! Due to explicit sexual content, drug use and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older.
I'm going to admit that when I first started this series I had no clue what I was getting myself into. As horrified (sorry!) as I was by what was happening, I couldn't put it down. The author has a way of making it so that you fall for these extremely unsavory characters. I mean have you ever really loved the villain before? this isn't YOU, baby wrecked me. Like ugly cry, tear your hair out and scream "WHY, OH WHY!?!" into the abyss as your heart finishes shattering into a million pieces. However, I absolutely loved this book. The story is going to grab you, hold onto you, give you hope and then steal your soul once you read the very last word. I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the War and Peace series. Until then I will quietly cry in my laundry basket where I am most comfortable.
This series....wow. I'm not sure how I'm going to survive it without therapy and medication. Because it's so intense it's rather all consuming! Here I am naively thinking I know where this story might be going. Nope. That would be too simple. And K. Webster doesn't do simple or predictable. She's got a plan B for this plot. And just when I'm all in with Plan B....she rips it all away and tells me I have to wait to see what Plan C is. She played me again. I really shouldn't be surpised because she has mastered the art of plot twists.
At 4am I was already trying to figure out how to review this book without giving ANYTHING away!! The emotions I felt while reading this book were off the charts!! At one point I wish I was in the same room with the author so I could slap her (no I'm not a violent person, but this book will do things to you that you don't normally want to do!!) I went through anger and sadness and shock and I even shed a tear or two!! To say this book wrecked me is putting it mildly, in fact I think I may need therapy to recover from this!! This is not a hearts and flowers kind of story so if that's what you are looking for this is the wrong story for you, but if you have read the other books in the War & Peace series and you like that dark, dark type of book then go buy this right now!! But make sure you have plenty of time to read this because you will not want to put it down!! It actually took me two days to read it because I read at night and I had to get SOME sleep!! I most definitely recommend this book, but don't say I didn't warn you and read at your own risk!!! Enjoy your roller coaster ride of emotions, I know I did!!!
