As a person who really likes comic books, i think the thor hate is misguided. Shes bassically like the thor version of spiderwoman or batgirl or supergirl- its just a little genderbender, get over it ;) Im sure if you gave it a chance itd be good! And it could draw more girls into the comic world because lets face it; girls dont like comics and part of that is because peopls rarely market to us! So this is an oppertunity to crrate a larger audience. The negative backlash surrounding this comic only goes to show that the comics fandom is still a "boys club" because i havent seen anyone complain about the story all i hear is "why is thor a girl?!" And thats not cool at all. Read the comic for yourself and decide if its good, dont just make snap judgements.

Seems like Thor has become unworthy to wield the hammer. A new Thor claims the hammer and is female. No one knows anything about her. She's not sure why the hammer has claimed her and she's off to fight the bad guys. This is not a genre I read much. I felt like I dropped into the middle of the story although this is the first volume of Thor: The Goddess of Thunder. I know nothing of her past nor Asgard. It was confusing. This is not a stand alone. Read the early books for better understanding of what is happening. Without the understanding I was lost as to why Thor: The God of Thunder lost his worthiness. The ending is a cliffhanger. The story is well told. The illustrations enhance the story. If you are into Thor you will enjoy it. It isn't my type of story so I'm not sure if I will finish the series or not.

Thor isn't just a Beloved Marvel Character. HE is a Historical Figure, a Legend and Myth. HE is part of centuries of Viking Lore. This is Blasphemy for both history and marvel, it's wrong on every level.
