Hallie has a secret...doesn't everybody?

Hallie doesn't have long to live. And to make things even more complicated, she's in love with a guy who's seriously out of bounds. She's never going to let him know, of course; she's just going to enjoy every remaining moment of her crush. She's also determined to spend her last months helping those who write into her Dear Rose column with problems of their own. Her doctors can't fix her, but maybe she can fix a few other people's dilemmas before it's too late.

All our lives are full of choices, for better or worse. The amazing thing to see is how connected we all are—in ways we don't even know. On occasion, we have the chance to see the ways we change one another's lives for the better.

Praise for The Unexpected Consequences of Love:
"Mansell's tale of the stirring of love in spite of various heartbreaks and disappointments is a charming and, at times, madcap romantic comedy." - Booklist

Praise for Don't Want to Miss a Thing:
"Utterly charming from the first page, Mansell's engaging tale is as welcome and warming as a cup of tea on a rainy night." —RT Book Reviews, 4 ½ Stars

5 - Don't be sad that it's over, be glad that it happened. Stars! Jill Mansell always manages to turn what you expect to initially be a heart breaking tragedy, into a story that as it develops offers hope, humor and new beginnings. Three Amazing Things About You certainly fulfills those parameters, and then some. Three women; Tasha, Hallie and Flo, living three completely different lives, in three separate parts of the UK, their lives gradually entwine as the book progresses, sometimes in small undetected ways, sometimes a little more obviously. You can’t help but come to care for them, their friends and families. And although you know it is coming, and as the synopsis says - Hallie goes on a journey. She's about to get a new heart. But whose heart is it? you cannot help but become emotionally involved. But from loss, comes life and new beginnings, friends and families. I  shed a few tears, had a few laughs and generally felt involved in every aspect of this book, and the challenges, situations and dilemmas the three women faced. This is a story that will make you think, reassess and ultimately realize that life is for living! ARC generously provided via Netgalley, and it was my pleasure to provide the above honest review.

A bit different from what I’ve read from Mansell before, in this book she brings us three main characters from three different areas in the UK, centering on the common themes of love, loss, grief and hope. Mixing in Cystic Fibrosis and organ donation don’t seem to lend themselves to a story full of hope and heart, but read on… they really do. Haillie has secrets– her life is on a timer: she’s on the wait list for a lung transplant AND she’s in love. But he’s untouchable – he just happens to be her doctor. There’s little for her to do but wait, and hope that her friends (an ex-boyfriend and his ex-girlfriend) only want her to live her last days well – not waiting. Tasha, the only singleton in her group is soon to be paired off with Rory – an adrenaline junkie. She’s happy not to be single, but is the worry worth the change of status? Lastly bring in Flo. Flo inherits a cat, and the cat just happens to come with an apartment that she must live in. Can evicting the present resident, Lena, go smoothly. And her brother just may be a bit of a hottie… Never did I expect this story to twist and evolve the way it did. Mansell crafts a story that winds around your heart: you care about the characters, you wonder about their men, and you wonder just how the three very different women will connect. Mansell treats each story individually, little moments that shine grab a bit of added sparkle as the story progresses. When you think (from the synopsis and meeting the players in the story) you know just what will unite them and bring the tale to an end, Mansell twists things just slightly – and you realize it couldn’t have been any better with a different ending. Combining her careful and distinct treatment of characters with admittedly difficult subjects of illness and organ donation worked to bring an honest and thoughtful story that leaves everyone with hope. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Three Amazing Things About You is an emotional story that touches the soul. It’s poignant, pensive, humorous, and unforgettable. The book begins with Hallie, a kind woman who gives advice on her website called She hopes that she’ll be able to continue posting after her surgery. Within hours, Hallie will be trading in, her set of lungs, severely damaged from Cystic Fibrosis, for a pair of healthy ones. She’s petrified, though, but also thrilled. Hallie is finally going to get her chance to live a normal life. She has secretly desired and loved a man, even though she knew that her longing could never be satisfied. But, what if she was healthy? Could her dream become more than just a fantasy? Little did Tasha know that the most embarrassing day of her life would also be the most significant. Tasha was mortified. She was up to her shoulder, in gooey public trash, digging for her lost credit card; while teenage boys taunted her, and restaurant patrons looked on. Rory, an innocent bystander, stepped up to Tasha’s rescue, changing his and her life forever. Lena was livid. How could her grandmother, name, a health care worker, Flo, in her will, as the guardian of Jeremy? To add insult to injury, Flo would get to live, rent free, in her grandmother’s upscale apartment, until Jeremy’s death. Jeremy was a cat for goodness sake! And, Lena needed that apartment for herself. Zander, Lena’s brother, wanted his irritating, demanding sister out of his apartment, but wasn’t about to make trouble for Flo. He liked Flo and was hoping, with any luck, that he might get to know her better. There are several secondary characters in this book. And, although, it may seem like a lot to keep track of, each character plays a vital role in adding depth and spice to this tale. This is a story depicting how one charitable act of kindness can affect many lives. And although, the underlying theme is rather sad, this book is anything but. In fact, some parts of it, are downright hysterical. I love how Jill Mansell was able to take two serious subjects, organ transplants, and death, and create a beautiful, touching, and humorous tale. Three Amazing Things About You will bring tears of laughter and sadness to your eyes. The story will also linger in your mind long after you’ve turned the last page. Jill Mansell is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Truly, don’t pass on this one. I received this ARC from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

I just love Jill Mansell books. And this one did not disappoint. I love how she had three groups of characters living their own lives and how she brought them all together. I can't tell you how, that would be a huge spoiler. She really humanizes her characters and makes you feel like you are their best friends and part of their world. It's always sweet sorrow to say goodbye to them at the end of the book. I am always looking up after reading her books and saying "what could possibly follow this?". I loved the Trash Girl part. So unusual and a great start to a new partnership. You will definitely need tissues while reading this book. I found it to be very entertaining, fun, enjoyable, and I wanted more! Ha! Thanks to Sourcebooks and Net Galley for providing me a free e-galley for this very entertaining book in exchange for an honest review.

Read from September 11 to 12, 2016 Book Info Paperback, 384 pages Expected publication: October 1st 2016 by Sourcebooks Landmark (first published January 15th 2015) Original Title Three Amazing Things About You ISBN 1492618063 (ISBN13: 9781492618065) Other Editions (19) Source:Netgalley EARC Book Buy Links Amazon B&N BOOK SYNOPSIS Jill Mansell's enchanting new novel will drive readers to seize life with both hands and make the most of every minute...Hallie has a secret. She's in love. He's perfect for her in every way, but he's seriously out of bounds. And her friends aren't going to help her because what they do know is that Hallie doesn't have long to live. Time is running out...Flo has a dilemma. She really likes Zander. But his scary sister won't be even faintly amused if she thinks Zander and Flo are becoming friends - let alone anything more. Tasha has a problem. Her new boyfriend is the adventurous type. And she's afraid one of his adventures will go badly wrong. THREE AMAZING THINGS ABOUT YOU begins as Hallie goes on a journey. A donor has been found and she's about to be given new lungs. But whose? My Thoughts Life changes for everyone, no matter how rich or poor how young or old we can always count on change coming when we least expect or are prepared for it. For Hallie the 28-year-old, whose long awaited and much needed lung transplant is finally a reality, the change is one that brings her the chance for a normal as well as new way of life she never thought she would live. For Flo the changes in her life are a little more drastic but not any she regrets when all is said and done. Tasha and her new boyfriend go through some life changes that not only give them each other but allows their relationship to survive a harrowing time period that almost does not work out happily. What really comes through as each of these characters find themselves facing their personal difficulties is the authors ability to showcase these individuals strength while still showing their vulnerabilities. A hard thing to do without overwhelming readers with too many negative emotions. Smooth transition from each characters point of view to the next, steady pace throughout, poignantly powerful, humorous when called for and lovely to see an ending with a positive outcome since it had such heartbreak when one least expected it. Jill Mansell has a knack for storytelling that I have enjoyed with each read lucky enough to have gotten a chance at, this one was no exception. Be prepared to weep many times, happily not always with sadness or despair but sometimes with joy and relief as well. [EArc from Netgalley in exchange for honest review]
