Three Men in a Boat
By Jerome K. Jerome

Based on a holiday boat trip made by the author and his two real-life friends George and Harris. This humorous travelogue includes local history of towns along the Thames, as well as a few serious and sentimental passages, but remains at its core a comic novel.

My wife and I found this book a few years back and we both think it's one of the funniest books we've ever read. I don't really feel I truly laugh at much in the entertainment industry nowadays, but this books literally makes my stomach hurt I laugh so much. He captures the true emotions and humor (often only seen in retrospect) of being stuck in a small space with "friends" for too long. I don't know that I've seen a rival in the quality of dialogue (for it's quality and subtlety) outside of perhaps Mark Twain.

I really liked this book but then I like classic type literature. I was actually reading a book by Connie Willis called "To Say Nothing of the Dog" (Sci-Fi) that referenced this book several times. All in all a good read.
