Three unique novellas comprise the beautiful gem "Three." Imagine a Cat-fishing Tournament outside Shreveport, Louisiana where a few of the combatants are hopelessly under-equipped mentally to take on the fish, let alone each other. Or a Boy's Group Home in Idaho where a former steward of the Juvenile Delinquents pieces together, from his death bed, the events and feelings of the old brick building that lead to that double homicide back on the Bicentennial.
And then there's the story set on the warm summer's evening in the upper peninsula of the Wolverine State. Emelia Johanson is dying of breast cancer, but with the help of a scarecrow from her childhood, she battles creatures far more hideous than the cancer cells that are destroying her body.
Robert's tales are laugh out loud funny, while also touching on the human experience in such a way as to make the reader feel a part of the story.
"Wyvern, Channel Cats, and Crowman" are the best of 2018, and together they compromise "Three."
