The story depicts a new world in which all of life is enabled to communicate. The mountain community grows closer as it works to implement a variety of solutions. The families in the novel are enhanced by their communities and their community is greatly improved by creative solutions to many long standing problems of resource usage. Worldwide research is also boosted by the need to orchestrate the wide use of renewable sources on the grid and the need for different meteorological patterns to be integrated. Close personal relationships grow even closer in the face of these challenges.
