Chapter 1

Darius

I want a gun. A loaded, cold steel gun that I can wrap my fingers around and pull the trigger, taking a man down in the blink of an eye.

I’m considering where to get this gun as I’m staring at the only woman I’ve ever loved. At Taylor Erickson’s beaten face. She’s right there within my reach, standing on the other side of the front door of Allie Parker, my half-sister’s condo. Taylor’s light hazel eyes are locked on mine, collapsing the stability and strength of my world.
Minutes ago, I was enjoying Saturday night dinner with Allie and her boyfriend, Micah Holt. Now I can’t move. I’m not even sure I’m breathing. I don’t know how long Taylor and I have been in a staring contest that I won’t ever lose. All I know is every bruise on her face, burning them into my memory so I can repeat these marks on whoever hurt her. “The man who did this to you,” I hiss through my teeth, seeing tears well up in her eyes. “He’s dead.”

I hear the hitch of her breath before she expertly shuts down emotion in that strong way she used to do when we were younger. But that’s not all I remember about her. I remember the way those pink pouty lips felt when I kissed her worries away. I remember how perfect and warm she felt wrapped in my arms, safe from a scary world. I remember how my fingers tangled perfectly in her long honey-colored, wavy locks, holding her tight against me.
I can’t forget anything. She haunts me. Every damn day.

“Oh, hush, Darius,” says my half-sister, Allie, pulling Taylor inside her condo. “No one is going to kill anyone.” She shuts the door behind her with a loud bang. “God, Taylor, you’re shivering.”

I realize then that Taylor is soaking wet from head to toe. One look over my shoulder at the 180-degree view of San Francisco’s midtown shows me that it’s pouring rain outside.

“I’m fine,” says Taylor, returning my attention to her. She wraps her arms around herself, face ashen. “Or I will be once I get out of these clothes.”

“Need help?” Allie offers.

“No. Geesh. I’ll be back before you know it.” She smiles at Allie before giving me a quick look that tells me all I need to know.

She’s uneasy about seeing me again.

I’m wrecked in her presence, too. I force my muscles to loosen, my fingers to unclench, and my hammering heart to slow as I watch Taylor, with her bags in her hands, moving down the hallway, toward the bedroom.

Silence surrounds us. Silence that is heavy and thick, saying so much without saying anything at all.

When Taylor finally disappears and the sound of the bedroom door closing drifts into the living room, Allie mutters, “Jesus Christ.”

I turn, finding her clear blue eyes wide when she looks between me and Micah, nervously twirling her long brown hair around her finger. I know she’s searching her mind for the same answers I want, like what happened to Taylor, but she seems stuck, unable to move past the worry for her best friend. I don’t have that problem.

“Darius, where are you going?” Allie calls out.

I ignore her question. In search of answers, and focused on the emotion crawling beneath my flesh, I leave Allie and Micah behind and move toward the bedroom. Once there, I knock on the door, intent to get them.

“Come in,” Taylor calls from behind the door.

I enter the bedroom, finding her sitting on Allie’s queen-sized bed, now out of her wet clothes and wearing a pair of black yoga pants and a light blue T-shirt. Her hair is pulled up in a ponytail, but her skin is still a grayish color, lacking the rosy cheeks I remember. “Taylor—”

“I don’t want to hear it, Darius,” she interrupts coolly, pulling a pair of socks out of her bag. “No lectures. All right?”
I lean against the doorframe and fold my arms. “Who says I want to lecture you?”

She finishes putting on her sock, then lifts her head and gives me a lopsided smile. “Because I know you.”

That smile is a sucker punch to my throat. Many of my best memories have that smile in them. “If you know me so well, then do tell: Why have I come in here?”

Taylor doesn’t hesitate. “You want to know who did this to me and why it happened.” She puts on her other sock before continuing. “The answer is, an angry ex-boyfriend and drinking . . . lots and lots of drinking.” She zips up her bag, rises from the bed, and turns to face me. “And now you’re going to tell me that you want to hire security to watch over me because you’re concerned for my safety.”

I don’t hesitate either. “You’re right, I do.”

She moves toward me, voice soft yet stern. “I don’t want a babysitter, so that’s not a conversation we’re going to have.” Her fruity scent spirals in the air around me when she closes in. Her bright, intelligent eyes stare me down.

“But because I know you won’t let this go. His name is Shawn Mason. And no, Darius, you’re not going to go and kick the shit out of him.”

The second story in the Dirty Little Secrets series did not disappoint. Hot and sexy with a bit of mystery and a whole lot of emotion. Awesome read! I really enjoyed the evolution of Darius and Taylor's relationship. They had so many ups and downs and struggles. I thought they had good character development even though it wasn’t super in depth, and I enjoyed learning their history together and their back stories. Darius is such a complicated man and I didn't get all of his choices or motivations behind them right away, but by the end, I totally understood and was a well of emotion when he finally opens up. I really liked Taylor and her strength. She was going through such a hard time and had a lot to work through but I liked her perseverance. I liked Darius and Taylor’s chemistry and heat and hotness, and the draw they had to one another, it made their reconnecting pretty instant. More than that though, there was a level of caring there that was super sweet. I liked them but they both frustrated me as they were fighting their feelings, some making me a bit crazy with their back and forth but I love how they got there in the end giving me a great HEA. The writing is really good, interesting characters and a great storyline. I thought this was a fast paced story, not super in depth but enough to really pull you in. There is a nice added element of intrigue and mystery that’s happening as well with Darius and his friends that is continuing throughout the overall story line keeping me guessing. I'm excited to see where that will go. The front half felt slightly drawn out to me but the second half had a great pace. There are great descriptions, awesome build to the HEA, a lot of emotion, and a nice amount of heat. Great read. Complimentary copy received for honest review.

the editing could be better with the obvious grammar errors. I've read all previous books in this series and find the same errors in grammar.

Darius was a self made billionaire. Then he is at his half sister’s Ally having dinner with Ally and her boyfriend Michael. Taylor showed up at Ally’s condo she had been beaten by her ex boyfriend Shawn. Darius had been with Taylor five years before he told her to go out and live life but had let her go as he was tired of hiding their relationship and he felt it could hurt his reputation if it was found out they were together as Taylor was eighteen years old and he was twenty nine. But Darius had never forgot Taylor. Darius was and still is a very private man and lives a very structured life. But Taylor was the only one who had ever captured Darius's heart. Darius is determined to be there for Taylor. As Darius and Taylor spend more time together old feelings start to come back again but Darius feels his sexual needs are to dark for him to be with Taylor. Darius wants to protect Taylor from the media. Taylor wants to prove to herself that she doesn’t need someone to save her. Darius was a secret owner of an adult Sex Club- with Micah and Ryder. Taylor went home to parents after Ally’s condo. Taylor had also run to her parents home when Darius had broke her heart. Darius had taken guardianship over Ally when her parents were killed when she was fifteen. Darius’s father wanted Darius to put Ally in foster care and Darius refused and there was now a ten year rife in the relationship with Darius and her father. The tabloids had been writing printing private information that only Darius and those close to him would know. Ryder owns a pub and Darius and the other men go there privately to talk and discuss business and other things. Ryder owns a high tech security company. Darius uses this company to look up information on Taylor’s ex as well as her. Then after ten years Darius’s father shows up with a business proposition . He gives Darius a week to decide on a answer. I didn’t love this story but I also didn’t hate it. This story didn’t WOW me. But I like the characters a lot. I also liked how Darius wanted to protect Ally as well as Taylor .this was a little a little slow at times. It also seemed like it had a lot of side tracks- or at least to many for me. But there was hot sex scenes with a little BSDM in them between Darius and Taylor. There was also some twists and turns I enjoyed.

Second Chances I love second chance romances, and Tied To His Betrayal did not disappoint. Though I felt a bit of disconnect between Darius and Taylor, I understood Ms Kennedy tried to portray Darius as emotionally unavailable because of a cruel father and a mother who he thought abandoned him as a young child. This deeply affects Darius that’s cost him pain and how he relates to people. It also brings a constant internal struggle with himself, and the determination to control his emotions. This story begins where book one, Bound Beneath His Pain, leaves off where Taylor, after five years being away, shows up at Allie’s place bruised and tired. Darius Bennett is furious over her condition as he learns she’s running away from an abusive ex boyfriend. While he puts the blame on himself for sending her away all those years so he could build his empire, he can’t resist Taylor any longer. Taylor Erickson has finally come home to San Francisco finding she still has strong feelings for Darius. But can she protect her heart from the man who has such power over her, completes her like no other man, and can also destroy her. It’s a balancing act for both Taylor and Darius as they try for a casual affair. But Taylor wants more. And to complicate matters, there’s someone out there trying to destroy the four men at the center of the Dominants’ Council, four men who are friends each owning a sex club in the city. There are leaks to magazines stories that call into question Taylor’s reputation, and Darius wants to protect her at all costs. Tied To His Betrayal, the second book in the Dirty Little Secrets series, is a nice addition. It has very little, or light elements of BDSM, and sexy scenes. I love that Darius is a self-made billionaire who’s very protective of Taylor, and loves passionately, but just is beginning to learn to open up emotionally with those he loves. And thank goodness, Taylor is the woman of his heart and desires whose willingness to love him with all she’s worth, and helping to bring down all the walls he’s built around his heart. Great read. I received a copy from Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept via NetGalley. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I received an ARC from netgalley.com... If you believe in the myth " if you love them let them free and if it was meant to be they will return." Darius' just walked back in and she is covered in bruises and he is told to let it go. He is not the type to do that. Allie doesn't rely on any man but if if she did it would be Darius always has been. At first I didn't think I was liking this book but the further I into Darius' mind we delved and heart the more committed I became. Mrs. Kennedy wove a gorgeous story filled with layers and depth.

I have to say that every book I have read by Stacey Kennedy has been so amazingly good. And Tied to His Betrayal is just one more in a line of bestsellers that will take your breath away. The author has the amazing ability to tell a story that reaches right into your soul. Loaded with passion, deep emotion, heartbreak, and a depth of love so deep. it is like none other. Fresh and raw, this is one story that will move you deeply. While this is a story that's part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. But why would you want to do that and miss out on the other stories that are just as good as this one? Although I think this one is the best so far. I can see why Stacey Kennedy is a best-selling author. With a rich talent to tell a story like none other, this book will leave a deep, long lasting impression on you. I think you'll be hooked by the writing of Stacey Kennedy. * Copy received for review purpose

Tied to His Betrayal by Stacey Kennedy was extremely well written. I loved the way she varied the chapters from each of the character's point of view in this story. It was a story filled with heartache, strife, maturing, understanding, love and family. This story dealt with both physical and emotional abuse and both Darius and Taylor's journey back to each other and how they dealt with all of these complex issues. Darius and Taylor should have had their happily ever after occur five years earlier - before a tragic event brought her back home and into his life again. Darius even though he cared for her deeply felt that he wasn't good for her and that she needed to go out and experience life since she was younger than he was. He also had some very massive walls built up around his heart. He is a man who relishes control over all aspects of his life and doesn't believe in happily ever after, love or long term relationships mostly in part due to the cold and unfeeling way he was raised by his father. However, once he realizes that by turning her loose to mature and experienced life caused her so much hardship and difficulty, Darius shows just how much he does care by riding to her rescue.  Darius at times could be or appear to be extremely cold, calculating, controlling and emotionally unattached. In order to become the successful billionaire he had become, he was forced to lock his emotions and feelings down in order to become the powerful but lonely man he was at the beginning of the story. However, I loved seeing his struggles as he let the emotional walls drop and allowed the tender caring side come out. Kennedy caught my attention with both of these characters who openly showed their flaws as soon as I began reading this book. She wove another intriguing well written story with extremely complex and dimensional characters. She told a fantastic story about how deeply some families go out of their way to hurt and negatively use each other and how their are some very special families that go out of their way to love and protect their own even if it means sacrificing what they want for themselves. It Darius and Taylor's story and shows how by doing what he thinks is the right thing - Darius almost ends up losing everything due to his actions.  This author also gave us teasers through the book as to the other gorgeous, rich and thoughtful men who will have their own books as well. This was yet another fantastic story that dealt with some emotional and scary issues. Stacey Kennedy handled all of it superbly and the book as always left us with the Happily Ever After and tantalizing glimpses at the other men in the Dirty Little Secrets series. This book left me wanting to read the next story in this series as soon as it is available. I highly recommend this book to other readers, family and friends. Stacey Kennedy's books are only becoming better with each one she publishes!

I liked this read. I think for me it was hard to get past the walls Darius has put up and make him a really likeable character, but I do like his dominate side. Taylor brings home plenty of drama and Darius plans to help her in every way possible. The chemistry they share is steamy, this is a fast paced read with lots of drama. I am enjoying this series.

Taylor Erickson is a woman on a mission, a mission to rebuild her life, take back complete control of it, and she no longer intends to let a man dictate anything in her life. She's ready to push the restart button on it, find herself again, and discover the happiness she knows she deserves... without the help of a man! But the minute her old flame learns she has returned home, he stops by to see her, and the instant he sees the bruises on her face he decides to make it his mission to keep her safe. Not realizing his "helping" is causing her more harm than good... and now the two of them are thrust into an environment neither were prepared for, and soon things start to heat up!! Darius Bennett is a man who likes control, every detail of his life is planned down to the letter, and he allows nothing to distract him from his goals... that is until Taylor Erickson wanders back into his life. Seeing her again stirs up old feelings, and soon has him acting out of character, and it scares the hell out of him. He doesn't do forever, feelings, or relationships and that is exactly where they are heading and he is ready to run the other direction like he has so many times before, but this time is different, it's Taylor and she is just too damn hard to let go of again... I have been dying to get back to this series!!! So, the minute I saw this book was available for review I had to request it, and boy oh boy am I happy that I did... it was FREAKING AMAZING!!!! There is just something about the men of the Dirty Little Secrets Series that intrigues me, the instant I met them I was left craving more, I mean what is not to love about gorgeous, rich, compassionate, powerful men, who will go above and beyond to make sure the women in their lives are completely content!! The moment Mr. Bennett appeared on the page he had my undivided attention, and had me salivating for more... and I loved every minute of what he had in store for me!!! He totally won me over with his seductive one liners, secret tender side, smooth arrogance, and unwavering dedication to see to it that Taylor was well taken care of... all I can say it that Taylor is a VERY lucky woman!! Once again Ms. Kennedy has pulled out all the stops and created a truly rapturous read that is sure to leave readers in a state of complete satisfaction... and maybe a little envious too! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

Author Stacey Kennedy hits another home run with this second book to her Dirty Little Secrets series. Emotionally packed and full of hot, hot scenes between Darius and Taylor the reader will not want to put this book down. I love this series because these characters have flaws. Not everything about them is perfect and pretty. Their characters are real with all their flaws being slowly exposed like peeling the layers off an onion. The characters are complex and likable even the bad guys. Taylor though a victim comes across as a very strong women and has the ability to see why people act a specific way. She reacts differently than others and shows compassion throughout the book while still standing up for her rights and needs while making people accountable for their actions. Darius has so much more hidden inside him that he refuses to let out. Towards the end the readers will be surprised about what they learn about him and what he did the five years Taylor was gone. This book is about how families hurt each other while others protect each other. It's about doing the right things and losing everything because of trying to make the right decisions. It deals with physical abuse, emotional abuse and what happens when the last puzzle piece clicks into place and you finally figure out what is truth. I give this 5 STARS for being so real and making my heart hurt. Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Darius Bennett used to be in a relationship with Taylor Erickson until he broke things off with her 5 years ago because he believed she was better off with out him. Darius doesn't believe he can truly love Taylor the way she needs to be loved. Now, standing in his half sister Allie's condo, who is also Taylor's best friend, he is looking at Taylor's bruised face and wanting to kill the person responsible....ok....so maybe he still does love her but he will never admit that. Knowing exactly what Taylor needs, he tells Allie to leave. What begins as just comforting Taylor, turns into much more and these two pick back up right where they left off. While Taylor wants to keep the beating a secret from her parents, things quickly blow up. While Darius is trying to help Taylor, things in his private life are also blowing up. Just when they both need each other, things happen and feelings get hurt. After much soul searching, these two do find their way back to each other and finally get their happy ending. There are also interesting things happening with the DC group and no one knows exactly why, but Ryder is looking into it! Overall, I loved Darius. He had such horrible things from his childhood that have turned him into this strong, determined man. I also loved how he is able to command attention but at the same time is nice about. Taylor grew up always wanting to please everyone, but never really took the time to please herself first. Over time, she finally became a strong woman who went after what she really wanted. Another great addition to this wonderful series. I can't wait for Ryder's story next!

This book picks up where book 1 ends. This is the story of Darius and Taylor. Darius is the half brother of Allie (from Book 1), they share a common mother. His mother "left" when he was 4. His father raised him, telling him that his mother never wanted him and that she left him. This was his mindset his whole life. Darius is also a driven man. Successful, took Allison in when her parents were killed when she was 15, to his fathers extreme anger. He changed his life for her, a young man himself who didn't know what to do with a 15 year old, but he did it. His father would have had him put her into foster care. That was the beginning of a 10 year rift between father and son. Darius was driven to be a success. He needed to make money. He needed to prove himself, to his father, himself. -Taylor. Best friend to Allie and the ex of Darius who pushed her away 5 years ago. He was 25, she was 19. Making money was more important to him. He told her she needed to go experience life. What she experienced was one lousy relationship after another and the last one ended with her battered and bruised returning home to San Francisco and showing up at Allie's . Allie is all set to move with Micah, so she offers her the condo to stay. Darius is there that night and sees her and is furious. He gets very little information from Taylor about the details of what happened. Darius is a self appointed saver and fixer. Especially with Allie and Taylor. That said I'm not sure where he was during their 5 year separation... making money and overseeing the clubs he owns with Micah and Ryder. Taylor and Darius still have chemistry and it burns right off the pages. You can almost feel the heat these two share. The secondary story is the group collective is having a problem with the tabloids printing private information that only they know. So they realize that someone, somehow is leaking their private conversations to this tabloid. Ryder owns a Pub, they usually meet their and talk. The men use this time to discuss business and other things. Ryder also owns a high tech security company, which Darius takes full advantage of digging for info on Taylor's ex boyfriend and the rest of her personal business. Pivotal moment in the story is when his father shows back up (after 10 years) with a business proposition. He gives him a week to think about it. During that week Darius' world implodes. Taylor tells him she's done. Allison is furious over his father showing up and his refusal to believe how much his mother did want him. Darius finally gets his head out of his can and asks Ryder to look into the divorce. and things are exactly as Allie tells him. Story goes on through that last week and culminates in..... read the book. Now, my take on this one. Darius skated on thin ice in book 1. This book he's one the top with his mood swings, over bearing attitude and the way he treated both Allie and Taylor. The internal dialogue we read just about tells it all about Darius. He's still climbing the invisible ladder trying to make more to make up for his internal lack. And he's obnoxious. He solves things with Taylor with sex. He shuts her out and anyone who dares challenge what he thinks he knows. He knows not thing one. He really got on my nerves in this book. Taylor, a tad weak here, but considering where she's been and what she's been through, she gathered herself enough to end things with Darius. I wanted to applaud for her. Allie is Allie and I love her.

Ever since reading Bound Beneath His Pain, I've been anxious to read Tied To His Betrayal. I couldn't wait to read Darius and Taylor's story, and I have to say that I was sooooo not disappointed! I absolutely LOVED this book! Darius is such a good man, but he can't see it... and goes out of his way to make sure no one else does either. Taylor sees it though. She sees the man behind the pain, and loves him all the more for it. Darius loves Taylor to distraction but is convinced she'd be better off without him in her life. Theirs is not an easy romance, but it is a true romance. This book hooked me on page one and kept me riveted right down to the last word. I can't wait to read the next book in the series and see what Stacey Kennedy has in store for us next. She definitely knows how to weave an entertaining story with beyond interesting characters. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a provocative and endearing read. * I was given an ARC via NetGalley and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.

For all the ups and downs and twists and turns, there was something missing. The passion and connection between the main characters. Darius is a powerful man and he let the tabloids run his life. Taylor is a strong woman even if she comes home after being assaulted by her boyfriend. To think these two, along with the rest of the DC would be spinning about the tabloids didn't ring true. What was spectacular was the story telling. The author wove a love story that spanned through a breakup to the present and captured the essence of that. This story can be read as a stand alone, I didn't read the first book in the series and was not lost. **Received an ARC copy from the publisher via NetGalley**

YES! YES! YES! Everything I thought was lacking in book one was packed into Tied To His Betrayal. I was on edge from the moment Taylor arrived on Allie’s doorstep right through to the end. I loved Darius and Taylor’s story. It’s one many might be able to connect with whether you were the one giving the other up or if you were the one pushed away. From their first interactions after years apart, their feelings for each other JUMP off the pages. While we may not get many glimpses into their prior relationship, the writing is so beautiful that you feel exactly what they are. I liked how even as we watch both Taylor and Darius work through their own demons that there is the underlying plot that will tie all the books together through the DC men. I’m looking forward to Ryder’s book and the rest of the series.

“I’m seeing Darius beneath all the shields, and my world is collapsing around me.” “There is so much that I want to take from her. I want her soul, her body. I want her, just like this.” Tied to His Betrayal is the second book in the Dirty Little Secrets Series, but can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone novel. Told from dual points of view, Tied to His Betrayal is Darius and Taylor’s story. Darius has to have control in every part of his life and is used to always having his way. Now that’s he’s a self-made billionaire, he can have anyone or anything that he wants. But, there’s only one person that he wants and that person is off limits to him. You see, he’s always wanted more with Taylor, but was afraid that he couldn’t be exactly what she needed, so he lied. He said what he needed to in hopes that she would move on and have the life that she deserves. However, fate had other plans in mind. When Taylor comes back into Darius’ life, it’s as if no time has passed at all. He tries desperately to put some space between them and fight the feelings that he’s always had, but that soon will prove to be impossible. Will Taylor and Darius finally give in and take a chance on what they so desperately want and need? There’s only one way to find out…. Tied to His Betrayal is a seductive and sexy read. Darius and Taylor’s story pulled me in from the very first page. When I first met the two of them, I just knew their story was going to be something special and boy, they did not disappoint. The chemistry and connection between the two of them was just explosive. It had you on pins and needles, with anticipation, just waiting for these two to give in. Their connection was so strong and survived the toughest of situations. All you could do is just sit back and cross your fingers that things would play out the way that you are hoping for. Tied to His Betrayal is a quick and easy read. Once you pick it up, you are not going to want to put it down. The story-line is sexy and captivating. The characters are easy to connect with and their story is easy to get lost in. Tied to His Betrayal has just the right mix of sexiness, drama, suspense and angst. I really enjoyed this book and can not wait to see where the series will take us next.

What a great follow up!!! I loved this so much. Darius and Taylor the absolute best characters I've read in a while. They are both such rich, fascinating character that you can't help be get hooked right from the start. The relationship between the two is exciting to watch unfold. They have so much history together but then so much of it apart to wade through as well. This really has hooked me to this series, I can't wait for more.

This one was just an ok read for me. I found it a bit predictable and I never really connected with these characters. I didn't feel the chemistry between them either. For a man who thrives on power and control, it just didn't fit that he let Taylor go before due to something as simple as age. The truly powerful don't give much credence to the media or what it has to say so his "no scandal" viewpoint just didn't ring true to me. That said, the writing is very well done and whether you like them or not, the characters are well developed.

Taylor and Darius have a past that should have led to marriage and happily ever after! Unfortunately Good byes were said five years ago! Stacey Kennedy writes very well and character fleshing is excellent. But... the brick wall in this narrative just did not seem solid enough for me to believe would lead to true love breakup. This is my first Stacey Kennedy book and this was very well written. It was mature and the characters were likeable. This is the 2nd standalone in a series and I admit, I did feel like I was missing a few things since I didn't read the first book. I would recommend starting with the first. This is a series that while each book can standalone, there is a bigger picture being revealed in each book. In the beginning, I wasn't sure if I was going to like the book. You learn right off that Darius and Taylor were together when he was 29 and she 19. You get flashbacks to when Darius broke things off with Taylor 5 years prior and I have to say, the reason was weak. He hid his relationship with her because he feared their age difference would cause a scandal and he would lose investors. I'm sorry but that didn't really fly with me. Rich men are known to have younger woman. I didn't like that he made her his dirty secret. To me, this spoke that he didn't really love her and she was better off without him. After judging all this, I kept reading and things started to make sense. The more I read, the more gets revealed about what happened in the past with his father and his mom abandoning him whe he was really young. As the pieces start clicking in place the truth was, his father was a manipulative man. He had been whispering in Darius ear for years and molding him into a man that could not trust and could not allow anyone close. Despite this, Darius was still a good man and while he can love, he just didn't know how. This storyline is a bit predictable and seems to be a favorite lately. The tortured hero who loves but pushes away until the heroine proves to be the one to break down the walls. What saves this story for me is despite all that, the author did a great job of still making me care about Darius and Taylor and I wanted to see these to make it. She also drew me in to the other key players in this series and I want to know their story as well. ARC provided by NetGalley.
