This almost felt like reading someone's diary. At times it was hard to keep all the characters straight in the tangled web. There were obvious mistakes in some sentences that didn't make sense. All in all, this was a depressing story. I would not recommend it.

Reviewed by Jack Magnus for Readers' Favorite Ties That Bind is a women's fiction novel written by Debbie White. Patsy had a lovely husband, Charles, and the two of them worked together at their private investigator's business until they retired. In fact, that business was how they first met. Patsy had graduated from secretarial school and was looking for a better paying job than the first one she got after graduating. Charles interviewed her and, when an investigator job opened up, she seemed the perfect fit for it and even found Charles his new secretary. They had three lovely children, Peter, Charlie and Carole, and Patsy stayed at home while they were young to raise them. There was always a sadness she felt, and a need to understand more, however, about her own childhood. While she adored and loved her adopted father, Irma, her adopted mother was cruel and cold, and her half-sister, Teresa, followed Irma's example and treated Patsy poorly. According to the family story, she was left as an infant in the family's house, and any trail that she could follow to find out about her birth parents seemed impossible. That is, until her kids had grown and there was all the time in the world to go back to the little town where she had grown up to see if they could use their professional investigative talents to finally uncover the truth about her family. Debbie White's women's fiction novel, Ties That Bind, is a well-written and bittersweet novel set as a narration by an elderly woman to her daughter, who is writing it all down for the two of them to share. Together, they relive the good and bad memories of Patsy's early life, and the heady romance that flourished between her and Charles. As the two women revisit those bygone days, the reader can't help but get a sense of renewal and healing of any old slights or hurts from their past relationship as mother and daughter. While the tone of this work is steeped in poignancy and regret for the all-too-rapid passing of time, there's so much to enjoy in Ties That Bind, especially those early days in Patsy and Charles' life when their professional and personal lives meshed so perfectly together. Ties That Bind examines the dynamics of family and aging, and it does so via a moving and sincere narrative. It's highly recommended.

Touching This is a very sincere story, easy to get caught up in and relatable for me. There were many moments where I was overcome with emotion and a few where I could just sit back and think. Thank You for this, Ms. White. I have a feeling more can understand the perspective of Pat than we realize.. I'll be watching for more from this Author. An ARC of this ebook was given in exchange for an honest review and as part of a blog tour. Opinions in this review are my own.

Ties That Bind By: Debbie White Ties That Bind is a very heartfelt story. Debbie White did an excellent job on the story and the characters. Pat and her husband , Charles , are private Investigators and are pretty good at their jobs. Pat has known that she was adopted when she was little. It bothers her that she does not know who her real parents are. She carries us on a journey where her and Charles go to see if they can find some answers about Pat’s real parents. I was not adopted , but the last really got to me because of my mom. I was trying to finished the story and did not want to put the book down till I reached the end, but the tears got to flowing really hard and I could not see to read, so I had to get the kleenex to wipe the tears away . I really enjoyed this story and the characters. Debbie White did an excellent job of Pat and her wanting to find out who her parents were. If you did not know , would you want to know who your real parents were? Would it bother you not knowing who your family was? I was given a complimentary copy of this book for my honest review, which I have given.

This is one of those books that will stay with you for a long time after you finish reading it. The characters were fully developed and dimensional, I felt like I knew them and went through their trials and tribulations right along with them. And don't get me started on the emotions in this book, it was an emotional roller coaster, but in a good way. Debbie White is known for writing clean books and this was no different. But don't be fooled by that, there was plenty of "hotness" in this book, just mostly left up to the reader's imagination. While I do realize not all readers like this, I find it to be a definite plus to not have to worry about little prying hands seeing things they ought not to. So if you're like me and enjoy a good read in just about any genre (this book crosses over into many different ones), I highly recommend this book and all other books written by Debbie White.
