Overview

Tiger Time by Marissa Dobson

Tabitha Leigh has no idea her mundane life is about to change. Every day she gets up, goes to work, comes home--an average, almost drab existence. Lately she's been getting sick, and she can't figure out why. As fever and fatigue consume her, she has no idea she's being followed--and danger stalks her every step.

The Alpha of the Alaskan Tigers, Ty Reynolds, has been watching her from a distance to see if she will go through the change. When she finally does, he sees more in her than just the future of their kind. Now that she is embracing her tiger side, he must tell her she is the Queen of the Tigers--and she has a bounty on her head.

Tabitha must be protected at all costs; she must embrace her future and her mate. If she doesn't, it will mean the end of everything she's come to know and never realized she needed.

About the Author

Born and raised in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, Marissa Dobson now resides about an hour from Washington, D.C. She is a lady who likes to keep busy, and is always busy doing something. With two different college degrees, she believes you are never done learning.

Being the first daughter to an avid reader, this gave her the advantage of learning to read at a young age. Since learning to read she has always had her nose in a book. It wasn’t until she was a teenager that she started writing down the stories she came up with.

Marissa is blessed with a wonderful supportive husband, Thomas. He is her other half and allows her to stay home and pursue her writing. He puts up with all her quirks and listens to her brainstorm in the middle of the night?

Her writing buddies Max (a cocker spaniel) and Dawne (a beagle mix) are always around to listen to me bounce ideas off them. They might not be able to answer, but they are helpful in their own ways.

She love to hear from readers so send her an email at or visit her online at

Wow, horrible HORRIBLE writing style.  She jumps from one thing to another to another, absolutely no flow to the story line at all.  I really wanted to enjoy this book as I love shifter stories but I can't get past page 36, it's just ridiculious at this point, going from feeling sick, to best friend dying, to moving to Alaska, to oh wait I've found my lifemate and want to have sex after less than 30 pages, but oh no there's a clan of tigers pounding on the door wanting to kill me so we're going to jump out the fire escape. There's just no depth of characters at all, it's all so one note, and that note is striking a really horrible chord.

I thought maybe the author was a high schooler or something. No depth to characters. The friend dying seemed a convenience more than tragedy. I like fluff as much as the next person, but not this.

Don't waste your time. No character developement and the ending was one of the worst I've read. The story just ended. I kept looking for something that resembled an ending, but it was not there. Very disapointing. Will not read another book from this author.

Terrible book. No ending. It just ended. No proper use of grammar, pronouns were not used properly and confused the story. No editing, as the sentences did not flow. The concept of the story was not there. It just bounced around and made no sense. Thought process appeared to be that of a teenager. Will not read another book from this author. Sex scenes lacked with no imagination at all.

But the ending was not satisfying at all! It just stops and then the next book doesn't continue the story. I would have loved to know what happend to tabby and ty:(

I have a love for all types of cat shifters, so tigers seemed right up my alley. Tabitha was a fun character, but she suffered from the same lack of disbelief that I find quite often in paranormal stories. She was just too accepting of the fact that everything was changing. Perehaps shock plays into this a little bit, but I don't know if I would be inviting a person that claims he turns into a tiger into my home after knowing them for such a short period of time. Ty, as an alpha male, was strong, demanding, and always in charge. But he was just too much. I wanted to see more of his softer side, of his nurturing side. It seemed like too much time was taken showing that he was a tough as nails leader that got stuff done. While Tabitha did stand up to his take charge nature (which was a relief), I wanted to see him take advice, be wrong, or work with more of a team to round his character out a little more. The suspense and danger in Tiger Time seemed a little forced. There was no way to keep Tabitha safe, the bad guys knew what was going on (until the breaking moment) and were always one step ahead. It just didnt' seem too believable. I also didn't fully understand why they wanted her dead. The reason was given, it just didn't seem like a reasonable one - but we are dealing with crazy people, so maybe I shouldn't have been surprised. As a series, I had expected to have some more resolution to the story than I did. While some things are wrapped up, there's a lot left hanging to pull you into the next book.

What to say. This story had potential, but didnt hit the mark. Surprised to learn this was not a youngster's first attempt. "Corny" and cheap ending.

So when I think tigers, I do not immediately jump to Alaska in my brain, so I was immediately intrigued by this title and had to find out more.  I love shifters and idea that there were huge felines in Alaska intrigued me.  This is the first book in her Alaskan Tigers series and the first book I have read by her.  It will not, however, be the last.  The world Marissa has created for her shifters is fascinating with likable characters that are easy to relate to.  The story had a lot of very familiar elements of the typical shifter novels out there, but I love those, so it completely worked for me.  The book got better as it went along and I have a feeling the series is going to get better and better with each book.  If you love shifters, true fated love with some, but not "I hope my mom does not know I read this" heat, a lore that is a little bit different, and a bit of action, this book is probably right up your alley. I would probably give this book a 3.5 if halves were an option.

This was the first book I read by Ms. Dobson. I must say it was not the last. I have now read everything she has for the Nook. I enjoy her story telling and the flow of her books. Thanks for giving us a new look into the shifter world.
