The Brothers Hillstrand have a winner here. They charmed me in Deadliest Catch, and after reading the book I now understand why they are the way they are!

I couldn't put the book down once I started reading it. I laughed, I cried - I found the book so fascinating to read. My only complaint is that they should have included another 100 or so pages to this book. If you are a Deadliest Catch Fan - you'll enjoy the book. If you are a fan of the Time Bandit and the Hillstrand Brothers, you will love the book.

Awesome read. You can tell who wrote this book. It waslike having the Hillstrand boys telling you stories around the burn barrel! I am a huge fan of Deadliest Catch, but anyone who enjoys badass boys and their stories will love this. They also talk a little about the terribly missed beloved Captain Phil Harris. Wish there was more....

The Hillstrands are crazy! and serious. and crazy. From their younger antics (still today) to the seriousness they take their job, this had me laughing and/or saying "Oh Geesh" throughout. Andy the little bit more serious watching out for Johnathan throughout his life, you can see that their bond is strong. They love their family and they love the work they do. As they state it: "unchained on the Bering Sea is a job like no other"...

The book Time Bandit by Andy and Jonathan Hillstrand tells the story of themselves and the sea. In the small Alaskan town of Homer near the Bering Sea, is the home of town of two rambunctious and troublesome boys by the name of Andy and Jonathan. Throughout their lives they form a bond that can never be broken, not even by the constant battering of the Bering Sea. Throughout each other¿s lives they come to each other¿s rescue and help one another out in times of need. The Hillstrand brothers do one of the deadliest jobs on the face of the Earth, fishing for crab.

This book is filled with tales of the old. One such example is the story of The Perfect Storm. This story relates to the book because it shows the major message that sometimes you have to take risks, but you have to know when to stop before you get into a bad situation. As young boys, they didn¿t know when to stop. They would push the limits until them, or their boats, could take no more. As they matured, they realized that taking chances was not the way to go especially with their multimillion dollar boat, Time Bandit. They had to rely on wits. I liked that in this book, the story went between Jonathan and Andy writing, so I was able to see their different viewpoints on a situation. However, I did dislike the length of time that the time that it took to switch between authors, it was always a chapter long. The chapters were not short and to the point, instead they were long and dragged out. Someone should read this book because it is very interesting to learn about the lifestyle of fisherman who catches fish in mass numbers, not just one by one with a pole and string. I also recommend the book The Road. It has nothing to do with fishing, but it has the same plot line that taking risks can lead to reward, but can also have high consequences. Overall I would give this book four out of five stars. The book overall was fairly interesting, but some parts were very boring.

Not being an avid television watcher, The Deadliest Catch is one of those shows that I just have to make time for-I can't help myself. The Time Bandit is my favorite of all the fleet, I must say, and that was before I read this book. From the show, one can see the three Hillstrand brothers, the dynamics between them, and their ability to get the job done without much animosity. They still have time for some pranks and general merriment among themselves and their deckhands. The book only reinforced my opinion on the Hillstrands-they have a special bond which neither rain, sleet or snow or whatever else the Bering Sea can throw at them can break.

Most people are aware of the show 'Deadliest Catch' and this book is a more intimate insight into the lives of two brothers and their boat the 'Time Bandit'. When I started reading the book I could not put it down and even read it by the light from my television so I would not keep anyone awake. The words on these pages had me crying. But it also had me crying while I laughed. This book is very well written and I appreciate Captain Johnathan and Captain Andy for sharing intimate details of their lives with me through the pages of their wonderful book. There are very strong women through out the book as well whom I admire and have a lot of respect for because it can not be easy to be a fishermans girl. I appreciate these men and the risks they take to do what they do. You won't complain about the cost of that crab meal ever again!

I first read Deadliest Catch. That was more of an overview to the show. Time Bandit is a well written look into the workings of this lifestyle.

America and the world have an ongoing love affair with 'The Deadliest Catch'. This book provides the background for this amazing show. The Hillstrand brothers provide a 'no secrets' look at the life that made them our heroes of the deep. Additionally, they provide a unique view of growing up in the wilds of Alaska. Great Stuff!
