I thought this book was great. Humorous in places, sweet in others. And some great heat too! A quick, fun read and a really cute couple. Amanda thinks there is nothing more important than her big shot in the fashion industry and she is much too busy to be going out for her friend's birthday party. However, it is a long standing tradition and so she can't disappoint them. She never expected to run into her long-time crush, Jake, who used to live next door to her. To her surprise, her feelings haven't changed, and the attraction is immediate. There are times when Amanda makes her life more difficult than she has to, but I understood why she did it. She is afraid to trust what she is feeling (or maybe what Jake is), and she also doesn't want to lose the things she has worked so hard for in her career. Jake, though unwilling to commit in the past to a woman, is actually a very swoon-worthy male who I quite enjoyed. He will have his hands full convincing his "Mandy" that they should become something permanent and tell their parents - who have likely had the pairs' wedding planned for years anyway. I loved the chemistry between Jake and Amanda. This is actually one of the first contemporary romance I have read instead of the romantic suspense genre (I'm usually about the suspense stuff), but I thought this was a lot of fun. Oh, the secondary characters are all great, but Mandy's niece stole the show for me and I really enjoyed her. All in all, a bang up job for Melinda's debut novel and a 5-star rating from me.

4.5 Star Review. A great debut! In Time Changes Everything by Melinda Dozier, Things are going exactly as planned for Amanda Larson. She lives in New York City, working as a fashion buyer for Macy's, and now she is managing/coordinating the Denalo fashion show for Valentine's week, which is a dream come true. Her life will be filled with work, work and more work - but she loves it and is thrilled to finally be able to prove herself to her meddling mother. Amanda certainly isn't looking for a distraction. But that's exactly what she gets when she runs into Jake Edwards, her childhood next door neighbor and teenage crush, in a bar after work one evening. Jake is still as sexy and powerful as ever, looking every bit the lawyer his is, and he's obviously TCEthrilled to see her judging by the twinkle in his incredible blue eyes and the mega-smile he sends her way. Amanda's not sure what is happening, but she feels a spark between them that's stronger than it ever was when they were teenagers. Not only that, but Jake is giving her signals that he's interested in her. He's always been a ladies man, even in school, but he broke her heart when he kissed her at a high school dance and then took off with no explanation. She's not interested in dating at the moment, given her hectic schedule, and she doesn't do casual flings unlike Jake. Amanda and Jake share a heated kiss as the night ends but they take it no further. They meet in the morning for a jog through the park and end up having a deep conversation before they part ways for a short while. They both seem to want different things, but Jake steps up and takes Amanda out on a proper date to his company holiday party. She gets a glimpse into the life he leads at work and of his social interactions, the latter of which frightens her. Jake had been honest about his prior views on casual dates and Amanda is afraid that he will soon grow tired of her and move on to the next good time. She doesn't want to lose her friendship with him but she's also not sure if she's willing to trust that he will be ready to take their relationship to the next level. Jake hurt her before, albeit when they were young and foolish, but she doesn't know if he's at a point in his life where he can change yet. As work takes up her time more and more and Jake continues to seduce her, Amanda feels torn in two. Can she balance a relationship with her demanding career, and take a leap of faith with Jake? Jake Edwards has only been in New York for about a month working as a sports contract lawyer when he runs into Amanda "Mandy" Larson one night. He can't take his eyes off of her when his buddy Ryan spots her, and he immediately makes his way over to catch up with Mandy. She has grown into a stunning woman, confident and successful, yet he still feels protective of her, thinking of her as "his Mandy" from the years they grew up together. They both realize they have incredible chemistry as soon as Jake sits down, so he gives in to temptation and begins to flirt before thinking of the repercussions. He never dates any woman for long, not wanting to get tied down or have his heart stomped on, but he feels differently about Mandy. He's not sure if it's the history they have together or if something has changed between them. But he knows he wants to explore it further. He finds it easy to change his ways from a ladies man to thinking of having forever with her. However, Mandy doesn't seem to be so sure. Jake tries to give her the time she needs to work and concentrate on her fashion project, but she shuts him out when he talks about moving forward. He's not sure if she's scared of getting hurt or if she doesn't feel the same way about him, but he's determined to win her over during the holidays. He can't see himself without Mandy in his life. A great debut! Melinda Dozier did a fabulous job with this story. It was incredibly well written, and even though it was a quick read, it still had a lot of emotional depth. Amanda and Jake had such a rich history together that it brings the story to life...which is why I enjoy stories like this that are based on a reunion trope. Melinda included just enough of their childhood without it being overbearing so it gave the reader a sense of how they got this point in their relationship. I have to say their chemistry is scorching hot and it was interesting to see Jake ready to settle down but to have Amanda pull back. I definitely recommend this sweet and funny romance.

First love can be so brutal, especially when it’s not reciprocated. Amanda and Jake grew up together and when they got older and he kissed her, then left, it broke her teenage heart. Now seven years later, it seems like Jake will be getting some of his own medicine. Amanda’s not ready to commit. She has entirely too much going on. Jake finally finds the woman who is the ONE, only to find out he’s known her all his life. It’s his little squirt. When he’s ready to try a relationship, she’s wary. She keeps pushing him away putting everything else first. When Amanda suffers Jake’s absence because of her reluctance to commit she realizes she doesn’t want anything if she can’t have Jake. I really didn’t know if these two would ever get their stuff together. Jake was scared to commit. He’s never done it before and doesn’t understand why he should now. Amanda is scared to give her heart to him again. Once they both pulled their heads out and realized what they were losing they came together in a very romantic way. Ms. Dozier pulled me in slowly and had me wanting to pop Amanda upside the head. Usually it’s the hero who I want to smack, but not in this case. This new author shows some strong promise as an up and coming author. I can’t wait to see how her future works progress.

I WANT A JAKE! What a wonderful, sweet, hot, loving wish I knew a boy next door like Jake book. From the beginning and until the last word I was in heaven. Ms. Dozier painted an astonishing picture of Jake and Amanda and their love for each other. I felt like I knew them all their life. If you want or need a phenomenal love story, then Time Changes Everything is an book you need inside your library.

Oh, Jake! I feel like I’ve been waiting forever to read this book.  It’s been on my goodreads TBR for months.  I read the prequel, Boy Next Door, on Smashwords two weeks ago.  And finally, FINALLY I get to meet grown-up Mandy and Jake. And it was totally worth the wait. Melinda Dozier has crafted two fabulous characters -- one a feisty, independent woman who takes charge of her life and follows her dreams.  The other a sexy, successful attorney whose heartbreaking past leaves him with a major fear of commitment.  Mandy and Jake are well developed, brilliantly written, and completely charming.  Dozier does a fabulous job immersing us in her characters’ world, letting us glimpse their love story from their childhood interactions to their tentative exploration of their adult feelings.  And speaking of adult feelings, I should admit that I’m quite the prude, and I had to read a few scenes with my fingers over my eyes.  But for fans of steamy romance, I think Ms. Dozier’s writing will be more than satisfactory. ;) Five stars to Time Changes Everything.  I only wish this were the first in a series - I’d love to see what happens next for Mandy and Jake!
