Overview

Tin Cup by Jude Deason

In the words of Tom Crawford, "What rings true with Deason's themes, the longing and incompleteness of our own lives. Nothing tepid here, either. The sprung syntax and startling leaps of imagery give us the impression, happily, that the poet is only marginally in charge. If there is a particular quality I admire, it is that her poems come unabashedly 'undressed' and fearless." In the words of one of her poems: "We all need the wilderness./ We need strong legs/ to lift the silver gate from its hinges."
