The sprung syntax and startling leaps of imagery give us the impression, happily, that the poet is only marginally in charge. If there is a particular quality I admire, it is that her poems come unabashedly 'undressed' and fearless." In the words of one of her poems: "We all need the wilderness./ We need strong legs/ to lift the silver gate from its hinges."
