Overview

Tish is about as good as it gets in the department of lightweight reading fun. Letitia Carberry, known as Tish, is a middle-aged woman whose specialty seems to be trying out any and every new activity with great enthusiasm, particularly things involving motors and the great outdoors. Her two friends, sentimental Aggie and matter-of-fact Lizzie, who narrates the stories, are not always enthusiastic but loyally allow themselves to be dragged along.

About the Author

Mary Roberts Rinehart (August 12, 1876 - September 22, 1958) was an American writer, often called the American Agatha Christie, although her first mystery novel was published 14 years before Christie's first novel in 1920.Rinehart is considered the source of the phrase "The butler did it" from her novel The Door (1930), although the novel does not use the exact phrase. Rinehart is also considered to have invented the "Had-I-But-Known" school of mystery writing, with the publication of The Circular Staircase (1908).
She also created a costumed super-criminal called "the Bat", cited by Bob Kane as one of the inspirations for his "Batman".

Tish was published in 1917. It is a laugh out loud story of three middle aged, turn of the century ladies who have some fun adventures. Tish is way ahead of her time and feels that she can do anything 'especially with the help of a little blackberry cordial'. If you enjoy a clean, fun read, this book is highly recommended.

I read this book 60 years ago and it still made me laugh today. This version is poorly edited or unedited. Tish and her two companion middle-agers are so much fun and their repartee is hilarious at times. The obligatory romance in each story is dated but the three ladies are priceless.
