In Eyewitness: Titanic young readers will discover the triumphs and tragedies of this "unsinkable" luxury liner. Detailed images and text highlight all aspects of this fateful journey including how the ship was built and equipped, what kind of passengers and crew she carried, what facilities she offered onboard, how she struck an iceberg, why she sank so quickly, how many people were saved, and how many lives were lost.

For over 25 years, DK's Eyewitness books have been the most trusted nonfiction series in classrooms, libraries, and homes around the world. In summer 2014 this award-winning series will get a fresh new look both inside and out. My 7 yr old grandson is really into the Titanic. He loves the separate picture that unfolds to show details of everything location on the ship. Was VERY EXCITED to receive it.

My son is 8 years old and a very picky reader. Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Spiderwick are the only books he's gotten into but he picked this book up and wouldn't set it down. Be prepared, my son wanted to share all the things he learned so don't expect to get any reading done while your child is enjoying this book. We went on to purchase Cars and Universe from the EyeWitness series as well. Both were read with almost equal enthusiasm.

I purchased this book for my nephew last month for his twelfth birthday, coupled with a model of the Titanic from a local craft and hobby store. The charts in the book were excellently detailed and provided colorful information about the parts of ship he was assembling on his model. My hope is that this was a fun and low-pressure reading experience for him and that he gained valuable knowledge along the way! There are a number of DK Publishing books that can be paired with experiential learning activities. A few years ago I purchased an Eyewitness cowboy book and coupled it with a cowboy puzzle, and also a DK dinosaur book and paired it with a dinosaur diorama kit.
