Jane Austen–loving school librarian Elinor Rodriguez was blindsided when police chief Levi Jackson, her childhood sweetheart, broke off their engagement with no explanation. Three years later, Elinor and Levi are thrown back into contact nearly every day as he corrals her dog, the recently adopted Dory, an escape-prone Australian shepherd fond of trying to herd cars on Main Street.
