After commissioned a 2dLt in the Marine Corps Reserve upon graduating from Princeton, he was called to active duty in the Korean War as an infantry officer. Staying in the Reserves, he later served in Vietnam and the First Gulf War, the two latter, on active duty as a “Combat Artist.” Attaining the rank of colonel, Chenoweth performed a number of specialized duties for the Corps, schooling through the Naval War College, and Barnes & Noble published two of his, oversized, military history books: Art of War: Eyewitness U.S. Combat Art from the Revolution throught the 20th Century (2001) and Semper Fi: the Definitive Illustrated History of the U.S. Marines (2005/2010).
His civilian career was in advertising on national accounts on Madison Avenue in NYC, and as an art director/writer/director/producer in television broadcasting. He won numerous TV, advertising, writing, and art awards, besides the military Legion of Merit.
He is retired and continues to write and paint.
