About the Author

PM Stout began making up children's stories when she became a mother. Having retired to Cyprus, her grandchildren would visit for the summer holidays each year. The inspiration for this story came from those grandchildren and a holiday they took along the Nile in Egypt. The magic language in the book was a secret language that Stout used with her friends at school to pass messages the teachers couldn't read. Toby's initial impression of Aunt Emm is based on her childhood memories of a visit to her own elderly aunt when she was a young girl. 'To Free a Pharaoh' is her debut children's novel.
