To Get Me To You by Kait Nolan

Will a city girl and a small town boy find love in this David vs. Goliath story with a side of grits?

Just a city girl, living in a lonely world.
Displaced Steel Magnolia Norah Burke doesn't know the meaning of failure. But when she threatens to blow the whistle on some shady business practices at her Chicago marketing firm, she gets fired fast as all get out. Licking her wounds, she heads back below the Mason-Dixon for a little home-grown Southern comfort.

Just a small town boy.
With his iron-clad Mississippi roots, Councilman Cam Crawford is a man who values tradition, preservation, and the love of a good dog. When a big box warehouse store tries to capitalize on his hometown's economic downturn, it seriously burns his biscuit. He's not about to let anyone's ambition destroy what he holds dear.

A David vs. Goliath story with a side of grits.
This unlikely pair just might be the perfect allies--in war and out. But as the battle to stop GrandGoods heats up and sparks of attraction turn to something more, will Norah's bigger-picture perspective go with Cam's "keep it as it is" attitude? Are they meant to be like biscuits and gravy? Or are they just as wrong as un-sweet tea?

Author Interview

Q: What makes the Wishful series special?

Wishful is a collection of southern romance novels honoring my Mississippi roots. When I started the series, I set out to highlight everything that I love about living in the small town South--all our quirks, foibles, and dreams provide a fabulous (and often funny) backdrop to contemporary romances about stubborn, independent women and the men who love them.

Q: Who would dig these books?

Wishful is a southern romance series written for anyone looking for love in a small town. If you loved Hart of Dixie and miss the residents of Bluebell, you just might fall in love with Wishful. It's a town where everybody knows your name and hope springs eternal! Many of my readers also enjoy the books of Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Kristan Higgins, Melanie Shawn, Ava Miles, and Jill Shalvis.

Q: What order should I read the books in?

This southern romance series has been written so that each story is a standalone that wraps up with a happily ever after by The End. That said, if you want to read them in chronological order I suggest this:

* To Get Me To You (Cam and Norah)
* Be Careful, It's My Heart (Brody and Tyler)
* Know Me Well (Liam and Riley)
* Just For This Moment (Myles and Piper)
* Wish I Might (Reed and Cecily), part of the Virtually Yours anthology
* Turn My World Around (Tucker and Corinne)

Q: Are there crossovers with other series?

YES! My Meet Cute Romance series of novelettes includes two Wishful stories.

* Once Upon A Coffee (predates To Get Me To You): Get it FREE
* Once Upon A Setup (the prequel to Just For This Moment)

About the Author

Kait Nolan is stuck in an office all day, sometimes juggling all three of her jobs at once with the skill of a trained bear—sometimes with a similar temperament. After hours, she uses her powers for good, creating escapist fiction. This Mississippi native has something for everyone, from short and sweet to Southern contemporary romance to small town romantic suspense—all featuring heroes you’d want to sweep you off your feet and rescue you from work-day drudgery. When not working or writing, Kait’s hanging out in her kitchen cooking and wishing life were a Broadway musical.

This is a story of betrayal, morals, ethics, and communication. I enjoyed this story. I enjoyed the fact that good people have hope despite what bad people do. I would recommend this story!

I love these characters, and I love this town! Even though this is a romance, and a really good one, there's so much more to this story.  I love the whole process of Norah and Cam doing everything they can to save Wishful. The town was like one of the characters. Then there was Norah and Cam as a couple. They were so perfect for each other. But then there was trouble because of lack of communication. I wanted to choke them both! I experienced a whole range of emotions while reading this story. It's unusual for me to sit for hours and read a book, because I get restless, but I couldn't put this one down. I hope most of the characters in this book get their own stories because I want to stay in Wishful for a long time!

I’m a sucker for a romance set in a small town. What this sub-genre normally has is the ability to world build, develop a large cast of characters, and make you want to visit the town itself, all while enjoying the main plot (the romance) of the book. That’s what Kait Nolan did in this book. And she did it well. Nolan’s first Wishful novel sets the bar high for the rest of the series. She has strong characters, in both personality and how well they’re developed. Cam and Norah were great to get to know, and the rest of their friends and family weren’t lacking, even if they were secondary characters. I feel that moving forward with this series Kait won’t need to spend too much time building up most of their stories. It’s all there in this first book, while no bogging down the book with too much information. Nolan skillfully gave the readers what they need as they need it. Along with the characters, the setting of Wishful was a joy to read. It was, as many small towns are, a character in itself. There’s much more to explore in this town and the antics that I’m sure will occur. I’m ready to keep coming back for visits in the rest of this series. Maybe I’ll see you all there.

GJRA. This was a really great read, 308 pages, hated to put it down to sleep. Would have been 5 stars except for the taking of God's name in vain. Hope that doesn't happen in the next book. Loved this writer, Tennessee girl & small rural town, wish Wishful was real. GJRA

I absolutely loved this book and I'm thrilled to know that there are many more books featuring the delightful small town by the name of Wishful. As we're introduced to big city career girl, Norah Burke, she suddenly finds herself desperately needing to visit her college roommate who happens to be a cousin of Campbell Crawford. Cam is a city councilman in Wishful about to go to war with the big box store that wants to ruin the town he grew up in and Norah is just the person to help him do it. This book just oozes small town charm and heartwarming family dynamics and the sexy romance between Cam and Norah warmed my heart and melted it like butter. This cozy little town holds a very big piece of my heart and I can't wait to visit it again and again.

Loved this story. Great character development, even with the minor characters. Hope that means we'll be seeing more of them all. The town of Wishful, Mississippi is a character all it's own, as is the fountain. Don't miss this one. You'll regret it.

An engaging read with a clear sense of place and fully developed main characters, this book offers a lot. Beyond a just-plain GOOD story, the author also gives us a strong plot and interesting subject matter that actually stands on its own - a pleasant and much-appreciated surprise for a romance novel. I coukdn't put this book down, simply because over and above the delightful characters, I learned something new on every other page. Job well done!
