I read both boths by Any Crowson and was very surprised by both of them. Both stories have very fleshed out characters and it's like watching a movie in my head. He is definitely a well written author and a great story teller. But what can I say that hasn't already been said. The editing is lacking in this book. The first one, "The Value of Life," I didn't notice those kinds of problems. But in this one, it would take me a couple of times to figure out what was being said. Wrong words in wrong places, missing words, etc. It's as if he wrote it in MS Word and because there were no typos, it was worth submitting. What he needs is someone to go behind him and fix those kind of mistakes that make it hard to read at times. But, overall, I really like the characters Joseph, Bentworth, and Whitlock. And though I enjoyed the first book by him much better than this one, this one is definitely worth the read. Follow Anthony Howard as he tries to discover what happened to his daughter who was abducted when she was 6 years old. Year later, it's time to get answers.

I enjoyed this book as much as Andy's first book, The Value of Life. I hope he writes a third book. I'd like to see Kate & Josef work together again as close as they did in The Value of Life. Put a hold on the romance for one or two more books, though. My biggest problem with this story is the editing. Really, really surprised!!! And, they weren't just typos or grammatical errors. There were words that simply didn't belong. And, weird sentence structures. I don't know. It's almost like voice recognition was used to enter the text instead of type written. Otherwise, for me, I would've given 5 stars. Keep 'em coming, Andy!

Please get a decent typist and proof reader! Imperative for an author to have the reader follow the storyline without being so distracted by many frequent errors! Pretty violent book. I liked the previous book much better - The Value of Life. It was free and BETTER than this one which was not.

I picked up his first book (The Value of a Life) on a whim, it was free. It was good, very good. I bought this one - it is also good. Like his last novel, another cop thriller about London kidnapping. This would also make a great audio book for a long ride. I highly recommend this book.

I loved his first book. I even overlooked the typos and the fact that the characters names would interchange because it was so engaging. I figured hey, its free. I never paid for an e book before. His second one was only $1.99 but I already want my money back. The story is great like the first one, but it has triple the typos and half the time the characters names change mid sentence. Like, seriously, can you not read your own book before you publish it? I'm going to read this b efore I post it. I figured if someone would go to the trouble of writing a book they would at least read through it and to ensure it read well.

Seemed written hastily. The characters and story needed another hundred pages or so to fill it out. Author is still a wonderful and natural writer and puts together a good mystery. I love this writer. Please MORE, even with the typos!

Both books are fabulous for content, however, I hate auto-correcting the grammar, spelling, and adding/removing words! There is at least one or more errors PER PAGE!! Very frustrating, even in a great story!

I love Josef! Mr. Crowson is a great writer. yes there are a few misprints, but I take it that the books from Smashwords are or may be self published or from smaller publishers, so I don't mind. I'm a supporter of the Indie artist! I love this protagonist, and I am a fan of Mr. Mr. Crowson ;)Keep them coming sir! Find his first novel, The Value of Life, an excellent read as well. I read this book through the night, until six in the morning...it was that good!

This was another good read. Needs MAJOR editing. Eagerly await the next Lindahl story. The Value of Life was a much better book, but this one was still very good.

I liked the story, but thought it wasn't as good as his first. Just like so many others, the typos were horrible. Wish those could have been fixed before letting people read. I do hope he comes out with another one. I really enjoyed Josef's character.

As with Andy Crowson's first book, The Value of Life, I was completely involved in To Kill or Not to Kill. This time, detective Josef Lindahl is back, along with his police colleagues, searching for a newly released pedophile gone missing. The beginning of the book takes us back eight years as Mr. and Mrs. Howard's daughter has been abducted and are waiting word from the police if she has been found or not. Jumping to around the present day, Josef, who has been called in off suspension (see book one) to search for the missing convict Weston. Enter divorced Mr. Anthony Howard. Anthony has found out that Weston is being released and now is the time to exact his revenge and bring his daughters body home. After resorting to kidnapping, murder, torture, and more Anthony soon finds out that his daughter is still alive. But there is more to the story from eight years ago that is being kept hush hush and is about to be blown wide open. Another fast paced read (I finished in about 4 hours)I can only hope to see more Joseph Lindahl novels from Mr. Crowson in the future. A story where the good guy becomes the bad guy, justice will be served on his conditions, and the people who are paid to protect you has secrets of their own. Just like The Value of Life, To Kill or Not to Kill was full of errors, typos, mistakes. Once you get going into the story line they kind of just blend into the background, but still make this a four star review (although I would love to give it more, the mistakes are far too many). One thing I am finding that I really enjoy about Mr. Crowson's writing is how deep he gets into the mind of the criminal, out looking for justice, and also Josepf. Putting the mistakes aside, I highly recommend both books Mr. Crowson has written.

Shawnee Could not find this book enjoyable, excessively graphic and constant foul language. I did enjoy his earlier book mostly. I do not recommend this book!

This stuff makes one think and is a fast paced read. Although whoever did the editing did a crap job. I could do better.

I hated it, I loved it... This is the second in the series, the first being The Value of Life. This one was much darker. Lots of death and violance. Who knew I would be rooting for the murderer to get away with his crimes! Mr Crowson, I applaud these offerings of yours and am waiting for the next one... Just think, when you are a best selling author I will be able to say "I read him before he was popular!"

I flew through this book just like with his first. I was so into the story I didn't even notice but a few typos. People need to focus on the great story. Totally worth reading!

I have never stopped reading a book before but this is one I will NOT finish! The lack of editing is just awful only got to page 146 but cannot go any further! Bad, really bad! The only reason I gave it one star is because there's nothing lower!!!!

I read the free book and this was just as good if not better. Yes, the editing was bad but the story was good enough to overlook it. To those who complained about the foul language and the gore: It's what happens in real life and this was a crime story and criminals do and say horrible things.

Interesting plot, fast paced, moderately well developed characters. Not as good as his first book. A lot of violence, torture and foul language. The ending has a big twist, but because there was absolutely no lead up to it, and no previous mention of the character involved, I found the ending a huge let down, like I'd been cheated. If this book was free, I'd say "What the heck, give it a try." But since you have to pay for it, I recommend that you look for something better to spend your money on. I could overlook the typos in his first book because it was free. I tried to overlook them in this book, but there were so many more errors, it became impossible to ignore them. Not just typos, but an unforgivable number of missing words, missing periods, and bizarre twisted sentences with extra words and words out of order making it difficult to make sense of. Reviewers who say there weren't many errors are either illiterate, delusional, or lying. There's no excuse for such sloppy editing, especially in a book you have to pay for.
