About the Author

Playing poker with men in a rough and tumble southern juke joint is not the typical activity of a 10 year old boy but it was for Gary Revel. Dancing with waitresses to Rock & Roll, Blues and Country music coming from the jukebox was also part of his usual childs play. Danger, intrigue and murder followed as he entered the darkness of the investigation of the Martin Luther King Jr. assassination. TO LIVE OR MAYBE NOT is the book that tells Gary's story in his own words. Once he accepted the request to associate in the investigation of the MLK assassination he started his journey that would eventually take him into Brushy Mountain Prison in Petros Tennessee to meet the supposed killer of Martin Luther King Jr., James Earl Ray.

Gary graduated from Holmes County High School in Bonifay Florida before joining the Navy during the Vietnam War Era. He was honorably discharged 2 years later and left San Diego California for the music business in Hollywood California where he met Jud Phillips who would become a life-long friend and business associate. From there his music interests took him to New York City and Memphis then Nashville, Tennessee and Gary joined other greats, (Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Don Gibson, etc) at the Acuff-Rose Music Company (Now Sony/ATV). In 1977 Gary Revel joined with Nashville Tennessee attorneys Jack Kershaw and Mary Kershaw and later that year in association with the HSCA and Mark Lane sought to uncover the truth of Martin Luther King Jr.'s murder. The House Select Committee on Assassinations had recently been formed by the US Government House of Representatives and charged with finding the real killers of President John F. Kennedy and Nobel Peace Prize Winner MLK. The investigation took Gary to some new places and some familiar places including Memphis Tennessee, New Orleans Lousisana, and Miami Florida. During this time the murder of his brother, Ray Fillingame, drew him back to Ocoee Florida where he sought the help of the Orlando Sentinel newspaper to find the killers of his brother. Some of his effort in uncovering the conspiracy and the involvement of Organized Crime and the US Government is dealt with in this book. Gary is now living in Texas with his wife and many of his children and grandchildren nearby.
