Overview

To Professor, with Love by Linda Kage

Junior in college. Star athlete. Constant attention from the opposite sex.

On this campus, I'm worshiped. While seven hundred miles away, back in my hometown, I'm still trailer park trash, child of the town tramp, and older sibling to three kids who are counting on me to keep my shit together so I can take them away from the same crappy life I grew up in.

These two opposing sides of myself never mix until one person gets a glimpse of the true me. I never expected to connect with anyone like this or want more beyond one night. This may be the real deal.

Problem is Dr. Kavanagh's my literature professor.

If I start anything with a teacher and we're caught together, I might as well kiss my entire future goodbye, as well as my family's and especially Dr. Kavanagh's. Except sometimes love is worth risking everything. Or at least, it damn well better be, because I can only resist so much.

When the author asked me to read this book, I was like...um... You know I'm a teacher, right? This kinda storyline freaks me out and I rarely even pick up books like this. She assured me it was going to be okay. And, since I LOVED the first book in this series, I accepted the book. Here's the deal, Noel is over TWENTY-ONE. His professor is only a couple of years older than he is. Yes, they should not be in a relationship when she holds the power of his grade but it isn't any different than a relationship with the boss. So I read. And it was emotional for me. I ached for Noel. He comes from a really difficult childhood and he's taken on a whole lot more responsibility than any 21 year old should ever have to. He falls for Aspen hard. He risks everything. He needs her just as much as he needs breathing. I love him. I ached for Aspen. Her parents are jerks. Pushing her through life too fast, she has a doctorate by age 23?? They don't love her. They ignore her. She falls for Noel hard. She risks everything. She needs him just as much as she needs breathing. I love her. Yes, this doesn't happen very often but I love them both. They risk for each other. They try to protect each other. They are perfect for each other. I loved seeing Mason and Reese a little in this book too. I enjoyed them being part of the story. But you don't need to have read the first book to read this one. It can stand alone. You do want to read them both. I'm excited to read the next one too. We met Pick and Eva in this one and I'm excited to know their story. This series is very character driven and I love that. Don't miss this book or this series.

There was so much I loved about this book. I think I connected with Noel and Aspen even more than I did Mason and Reese. BUT, I really love them all.  What worked for me: I enjoy the forbidden tropes. Even though these two aren't really that far apart in age, she's his professor. So, ethically she must stay away. BUT, that's easier said than done for these two. I also loved Noel. Like, a lot. For starters, he's an athlete. However, he's not the pampered college athlete. He works and struggles. See, he supports his family, so in his off season, he busts his butt to provide for them. Such a great guy. I also like Aspen. She has her own story and it really made me sympathize with her. I saw her as a bit hollow until Noel came into her life. They were a great couple.  What didn't work for me: I'm not quite sure there was anything in particular that I didn't like.  Overall, I really enjoyed it and I adored the epilogue. It's made me a bit anxious for a book featuring Noel's brother Brand and Mason's little sister! I'm certainly becoming a fast fan of Kage and look forward to reading more of her books! Quotes: "You keep glaring at each other and saying things that look like you're exchanging insults. But they're the hottest damn insults I've ever seen two people dish out. Like every 'f you' is just code for 'f me' instead." "Everyone feels, Aspen. Some are just better at covering it up." "I think I've been perpetually wet since the first moment I saw you walk into my class." "Didn't matter what I felt for you, though, it was always intense. Intense attraction, intense loathing, intense everything. I have been intensely aware of you since the first day you came into my life. Every time you assigned us anything, it was like a personal challenge for me to impress you, but my grade just kept dropping. I felt so stupid. I just..." "I wanted you to look at me and see the success I wanted to be. Not the failure I knew I was."

I have very rarely written reviews for all the books I've read, but I have to say, I honestly loved this book.  It has some profanity in it,  especially in the earlier parts of the book, good sex scenes and I really loved the main characters Noel and Aspen along with all of their  friends.  No spoilers from me but it has a HEA and no cliffhangers.  Can't wait for Be My Hero to come out featuring Pick and Eva and would love to see some of the other characters with follow up stories.  Love all Linda Kage's books, I only have a couple of others to read then I'll be sad  until her new novels are released.  Her books make me laugh, cry, and I hate when the ending finally comes...
