What happened at the faculty party while high school teacher Kendall Sanderson had too much to drink? Her worst fear realized, she sets out to find a killer. She believes she could have prevented a murder, and she must pay that debt to the future by discovering how it happened. She sees herself standing between her students and a gathering menace. Can she trust anyone? She finds herself comparing information with the high school gang leader. What about Jus Robinath, the new school psychologist? She feels drawn to him as soon as they meet. That can't be wise. She can't allow herself to love again, can she? Approach-avoidance rules her emotions as her past keeps colliding with her present. Love and danger intermingle. Before she can capitalize on information she is keeping from the police, the killer strikes again. Is it the same killer or someone different? She's gone too far and it's too late. She walks into a trap she can't come out of. She may be the next victim.
