Catherine O’Chancey is a reserved, demure, and graceful submissive. All traits she trained hard to enhance when she discovered the world of Dominance and submission in college. In an attempt to start fresh after the unexpected death of her last Dom, Catherine moves to Dallas, TX to escape the shroud of darkness he left behind in her life. She has tried to fight the need that resides deep within her to submit, but finally has to admit she can’t for it is not a choice, but part of who she truly is. After months of mental preparation, she ventures back into the lifestyle by attending a coveted open-night event at Dungeons and Dreams, an exclusive BDSM club.

Is it fate or coincidence that Catherine garners the attention of one of the club’s board members who happens to be on the hunt for the perfect sub – a partner who enjoys receiving pain and pleasure as much as he enjoys doling it out?

Jayden Masterson is many things: a firm Dom, a shrewd businessman, and a gentleman. What he isn’t, is someone who partakes in relationships outside of contractual ones with his multiple, un-collared, regular submissives. While he likes rough sex, he is not an animal, and can find pleasure only if it is consensual. What his harem is missing is a pain slut; could there be one in his future?

Upon meeting Catherine, Jayden feels an instantaneous spark inside him that has him wanting to know not just her body, but her mind. He wants to unravel her mysteries and discover her secrets. Through pain can they find the pleasure they seek? Can part-time pain lovers find full-time fulfillment when it’s not in their contract?

I really enjoyed this first installment of the Divine Trilogy. I would've liked to have had a little more detail into Catherine's horrifying time with her previous Dom but we still learn enough to understand her hard-limits and why she's been away from the lifestyle for awhile. I really enjoy the chemistry between Jayden and Catherine as well as Micah.

When I started to read To Serve is Divine I was imagining that I would be reading a story about BDSM, with lots of sex and little plot. Well, I was taken a back when I actually read how the author took the characters and really became more than a sexual relationship. Jayden Masterson is a very powerful, handsome dominant that has no inclination to have a real relationship or even find love. He just focuses in having any of his multiple submissive at his disposal. That’s until he meets Catherine, a lonely young woman who knows what she wants in life and she agrees to be Jayden submissive. Little did they knew that the relationship that started would change them both. She needs someone to trust, her last abuser made her more reclusive and Jayden just happens to help her heal, she trusts him and he falls for her. The story keeps you on a special kind of edge until the end, and even after you will be looking forward to read the next.

I was provided with a copy of this book by the author for an honest review. This is a book that involves BDSM. However, the BDSM does not rule the storyline and it is very tastefully done. The D/s relationship in this book is not one I’ve read about in other BDSM books and that sets this book apart from the others. Where the others are about the sex and how downright dirty BDSM can be, this books shows and deals with real issues, from real life experiences. Catherine or Erin, depending, is a trained but damaged submissive who has suffered at the hands of her Dom. She meets Jayden at an exclusive BDSM night. From here they start a D/s relationship together, Catherine however, is not Jayden’s only submissive. Jayden likes his submissive’s to be able to handle pain. Although he likes to give pain he will only do it to those who are willing to accept. Jayden isn’t looking for a relationship and Catherine is too damaged to handle one. I was pleasantly surprised by this book and the way that the author has put the BDSM as a by-line to both Jayden and Catherine’s issues. The characters were really easy to connect with, the storyline was well developed and the scene setting was handled well.

OMG, I loved this book.  This book is a definite must read.  I had a hard time putting it down.   She was originally trained by Andrew, which I would have liked to have seen that as Book 1., but i'm greedy. :)  I love reading about the training of the submissive.   It is unfortunate she ends up in the hands of an abuser.   A year later, she ends up at this bdsm club and Jayden eyes her.  Once she is in the club, the electricity starts.  They were a perfect match. I loved how Jayden pushed her limits but not so much as to set off any triggers to where she would be fearful due to her abuse. I don't want to give anymore away or put any spoilers out there.  Just know this is a wonderful book if you love this genre as much as I do.  This author is in fact my new found love and I can't wait to read book 2.

Move over Christian and Anna here comes Jayden and Catherine! From the first page this book had my attention. It wasnt slow to build up at all. Catherine has a past that should have broke her but it didnt, it just made her more determined to find someone who wasnt as cruel as her last Dom. Jayden wasnt looking for a newbie, he wanted someone that was already trained. From the moment their eyes met the book took off running. I cant wait for the next one to come out.

What I loved about this story from the get-go was how real and true to life it was. You can tell from the start that this author has put a lot thought into every aspect of the story, from the setting to the characters. It was so refreshing to see that an author has taken the time to research this genre carefully before putting pen to paper and not just thrown porn into the written form. The characters are not perfect, they are flawed, and that makes it such an amazing story to read, because you can relate to them so much, even if you are not in the lifestyle yourself. Everything about this story pulled me in and I wasn’t left disappointed at the end like other stories out there. If you are new to the lifestyle or have read a lot of ‘smut’ out there, I urge you to give this a go and let this author open your eyes to just a little bit more, you won’t be disappointed.

Well to say this book is addicting is putting it mildly. The amount of details used in this story is incredible. Since the first paragraph of the book I instantly feel like I am the main character. I can feel the chill as the author describes the cold. The interior of the club was so detailed I actually felt like I was there. The mystery man she describes is enough to cause anyone shivers and then when they finally meet, the first words he says to her. Perfect. The instant bond that Jayden and Catherine grow together has me falling in love with them. The moment they go into the locked room and he begins questioning her... it's obvious of the chemistry those two have. I've never read about two people so in tune with each other without even speaking. Then the truth coming about her previous Masters didn't dis-concern Jayden but in fact it made him want her more. Made him want to show her how it can be when done right. There first scene together was incredible. It had me shivering while reading. HOT! The dirty talk and dominance of Jayden is wonderful and not overly done at all. He is dominant and caring, very rare for some stories. The game he creates is one of excitement and fun for her as she tries her best to beat it.. but when she sees the toy he wants to play with she becomes afraid and he cares for her instantly instead of becoming mad. Being a proper dom he ends the scene and takes her away from the club. He gives her a card and tells her to call him again if she wants to continue. He helps her heal from her past abuse and then the unthinkable happens. That four letter word that we all know. LOVE. How can a cold hearted man learn to love so quickly? What happens now? What happens when other subs come into the picture? What happens when her submission is tested? Well I won't spoil anymore for you! You need to read it for yourself, you must! Go go go! Do it now! I found myself unable to do anything until I finished the story... I couldn't put it down. The characters are brilliant, super thought out and detailed. I feel as if I've known Jayden and Catherine for a long time. At the end of the story... I needed more, I craved more. She drew me into the story so quickly, it became addicting! The story is so delicious it leaves you engrossed in the story unable to do anything until its complete! I'm easily going to read this story over and over again and then buy the sequel when it comes out this summer! Can I just say, as a reader of Fifty Shades of Grey... this story beats it by 100% I am so thrilled with this story and love the BDSM aspect of it. The author really knows what she is talking about and her details are incredible. I highly recommend this book with all that is good and holy in this world.

Overall: Fun from the start, I was hooked early on between the setting and what was clearly complex character design. The setting is a little dark, a lot fun, and totally plausible, thus hooking me instantly. This is my first R.E. Hargrave read, and will not be my last. Cover/Formatting: Though perhaps not perfectly executed, it is good in concept, fits the content well. Editing/Proofing: It’s decent… some mistakes/types/misspellings/misused words noted, but not enough to distract from the reading experience. Character Design: I could tell from the very first few paragraphs that it was complex. Hargrave has a masterful way of exposing the character’s inner workings to the reader without breaking for the action, and at some points, without even being in the voice of the character we’re meeting at the time, if that makes sense. There’s rotating POVs and while in the head of one, we can also get to know the other from his observations. I enjoyed this a ton. Continuity: Decent… a few questions arose at times but minor. I’m going to give this 4 stars for addictivity and mostly-professional appearance. Note: Does end on a cliffhanger but as Book 2 is immediately available, I do not see how anyone can hold this against the author at this time. :)

R.E. Hargrave's "The Divine Trilogy" is an awesome series! Three full-length books, with #3 being a little longer. I love it. I don't usually give straight 5 ratings, but I loved this one! #2 is simply mesmerizing - probably the best #2 I've ever read. Most of #2 takes place over the space of one day - so you can imagine the amazing detail. I love the characters...Catherine's backstory is heartbreaking, but she is so strong. Love, Love, Love! And a transformation throughout the books! Nothing to improve - everything was perfect. No wonder this is an award-winning series!
