"To Teach" is a book about what it means to be a teacher, written by veteran teacher and educator William Ayers. Using an accessible comics format, Ayers and Tanner encapsulate many of the latest thoughts, best practices and settings of education in the US today in a concise and witty manner. The book mixes anecdotes of Ayer and other teachers' experiences with suggested best practices seamlessly.Ayers and Tanner manage to hit all the right spots in this comic book. They successfully use the medium of comics to create a very strong context, that of students, classrooms and administrators. The chapters are also clustered into clear messages that are delivered through real-life examples and charming narration. It may seem simplistic at first glance, but "To Teach" is a must-read for anyone who ever thought of being or is a teacher.
Very didactic. :) Also very useful for parents like, suspecting that the sauce of good education can't be based on expensive membership, traumatism-seeking and stressing intense schedules and homework.
