Toddlers Sing Storytime

The Toddlers Sing concept is so simple it verges on brilliant: Get a bunch of real-life little kids to perform classics children's songs and rhymes, and it's love at first listen for their target audience -- other toddlers. Any parent knows that very small children's ears perk up at the sound of their peers' voices, and the adorable, lisping tots here are sure to have tiny listeners riveted. Storytime focuses on nursery rhymes, tongue-twisters, and songs such as "Itsy Bitsy Spider," "Three Little Kittens," and "Sing a Song of Sixpence." The album's producers have wisely opted to keep the tape rolling while these pint-sized performers interact with one another before, during, and after their numbers, resulting in some of the cuter moments on the album. Some of these kids are true hams, putting on fake British accents for selections such as "Baa, Baa Black Sheep" and "The Grand Old Duke of York"; especially entertaining is rap number "Jack Medley," in which the little ones try real hard to sound tough. Unobtrusive musical arrangements and sound effects sweeten the pot, as it were, but the true stars here are the toddlers. Although this album is primarily aimed at the sandbox set, it will likely provoke a collective "Awww!" from grown-up listeners too.

My 2 year old daughter and I absolutely love this CD! We got it from the library a few times and my daughter requested it over and over, so I finally bought it. The music is wonderful - easy to dance to and sing along. Some of the arrangements are very fun and all quite enjoyable, even for Mom!

My daughter and I love this CD, especially the hip rendering of the itsy-bitsy spider. It's a great intro to some classic rhymes that my 2.5 year old daughter enjoys reciting now on her own.
