This book holds pretty interesting insights into what it is like to be bi-polar, to suffer from urges inside your head that you really can't control. The main character is not someone we would typically like, but the author allowed us to understand why he is what he is and at least have some empathy. His disappearance from the life that most would feel grateful to live into a wild worldwide jaunt of discovery and debauchery is haunting and fascinating. I thought the book was well written and helped me understand the "inside the head" world of a person with a serious emotional disorder. I'm glad I read it.

The story itself is riveting. Schizophrenia has never been known as a light or humorous subject. This is just plain funny but with the purpose to enlighten. Rarely have I read a book that is so informative, funny and leaves you crying. One of the best I've read in a long long time. You must read this and then reread.

This book was fast paced and easy to read, while there is nothing easy about the subject itself

I did not want this book to end and found I kept checking my page number on Nook hoping I still had many more pages to read. Now I'm searching for more books by author but think this is only one. incredible read on many levels. i have dealt with anxiety disorder for over 30 years and husband is being treated for low level bi polar. author did great job with subject matter and made it a page turner for me. Jullian = Please write another book!

A poignant description of a man's decades long journey with mental illness. Ms.Garvey reveals her expertise in the field of mental illness in an engrossing novel format. It is an enthralling account that delves into the depths of the protagonist's soul. Kudos to the author who enlightens the reader to the numerous and varied aspects of bipolar individuals.

but I guess that is expected when your subject is someone who is bi-polar. I wanted to know how a bi-polar person feels and this actually gave me an idea. It's fiction but I am assuming the author did a LOT of research.

I'm on page 73 right and so far this is so BORING!!All the reviews were good and so was the overview. The topics that were mentioned are those that intrest me.So far they haven't come up.It's rare that I quit a book and I'm going to give it a go for awhile longer.Hopefully things will turn around.I'll let you know if they do.
