About the Author

Author Jean Reidy's been told that a naughty little kid lurks somewhere inside her - and she takes that as a high compliment. She writes from her home in Greenwood Village, Colorado where she lives with her husband, Mike. She has four children and hoards of nieces and nephews who provide her endless inspiration. Too Purpley! is her first picture book. Please visit her at

Geneviève Leloup studied graphic arts, animation and printing in Belgium where she was born. Her whimsical illustrations have highlighted editorial articles, paper products, ads, packaging, children's furniture and textiles including lots of children's clothes! She loved working on her first book. When not drawing, she travels as far as possible, bakes large amounts of cookies and plays accordion in her Brooklyn digs.

Little girls can be picky when it comes to choosing clothes, and this one is no different.

This book is sure to catch the attention of preschoolers as many have the clothing issue that the girl in the book has: she can't agree on an outfit to wear! There are many different adjectives in the book to describe all of the different textures of her clothes. Plus, there is a cute turtle sidekick wearing the same outfit as the girl every time she changes! The turtle is sure to get a few laughs, and it's a good book to teach textures with.

This is the cutest book for young girls. My daughter, who is 3, absolutely fell in love with this book the first time I read it to her. She just laughs and cracks up so much. My daughter is truly a girly girl who loves clothes and loves to play dress up. This has become her favorite book. It is not a story book, but more like a picture book. By the third night of reading the book together, she could read it cover to cover all on her own. I would definitely recommend this bnook to a friend.

True, there are only a few words in this book. But the pictures are very bright and vibrant. And both my daughter and I enjoyed this book. I think rather than look at it as the little girl being spoiled the story is more about the little girl finding just the right outfit for being comfy. Just the right outfit for being her! Don't we all have certain clothes we'd like to live in everyday? And in my experience children know exactly what it is they want to wear. My six year old daughter will only wear skirts with leggings or yoga style pants because they are the most comfortable for her. She is definitely not a jeans-loving kid. My four year old really liked this book. She loved that the turtle matched each outfit as well. :-) We'll be sure to check out Too Pickley when it comes out!

I purchased for my 4 year old grandaughter who loves purple. The book only had a word or two on each page and when you got done with the book, there was no story involved, except a little girl who didn't want to wear the clothes that were picked out for her. It resembled a very spoiled child. I would not recommend this. It was a waste of my money. No story involved in these pages.
