'Branley explains these powerful storms in simple terms young children can understand. He describes the funnel cloud and how it forms and [tells] what to do during a tornado. The book ends on a comfortable note, that the idea is not to panic but to know what to do to ensure safety.' —BL.

Great book for beginners especially children who are learning about twisters & who are intersted in them. Still--I'm a meteorolgist and a storm chaser and I still remember the words.--and nothing beats getting a cup of hot coffee & reading this on the couch!!! This book is a great book about how tornadoes form, what they are actually made of, what is going on, and how to deal with them. It starts by telling hat a tornado is and the science behind a tornado. Then towards the end it informs kids of how to deal with a tornado wherever they are at.I really thought that this book was a great book to have in an OKlahoma teachers' classroom, because i grew up in tornado alley i did have to know how to react to differnet situations. I connected to this book, because I have experience with this same stuff.
