Home before sunset.
Sleep before dark.
Never go outside at night.

According to the family curse, Tessa needs to find "the right boy" before her next birthday or she'll be living by those rules forever. It should be easy. After all, with a touch, she can see her future with a boy...a future where he dies young. She would do anything to get rid of her curse, except follow in her ancestors' footsteps.

Then, she meets Morik. He's a demon and the reason behind the visions and the rules. He long ago brokered a deal with Tessa's ancestors, and he's come to collect.

Tessa has a choice to make. Stand before Morik as her ancestors failed to do or continue to hide from what waits in the dark. Her time to decide is running out.

I love this book. I was a quick and easy read. The story sucks you in and you can't put it down. I loved all the twist and turns in this book. I would think I had it figured out and than I would be shocked at what happened next. I am totally going to read this again.

This book sucks you right in. I enjoyed it very much even if it was a little predictable.

lMy ratings: ***Storyline – Many books you can guess where things are going, there were enough changes that I never knew for sure. I did not expect how the ended went, I flew through that tail end of the book. ***Writing style – I liked the balance of detail to story line. Many books will have way too much detail and others you are asking un-answered questions. I never found myself hoping to get out of a section ****The “Well there’s X hours of my life I will never get back” rating – No, definitely not. It was a great read. ****General comments - WOW, this was an awesome read. I am looking forward to more from this author. This book had a great balance, I never found myself "skim" reading.

Lyrical Life Quote - Look's are decieving but a touch is always telling. A fantasy fairytale of difficult choices and strong decisions with a heart warming plot and easy forward flowing chapters. In places the story has a charming nievity mixed with an unwavering passion, and beautifully descriptive writing. Tessa is definitely not an ordinay girl, but one with plenty of character and an unusual life style. Her life path will affect all those who surround her and plenty more besides. The dilemma that is ultimately hers turns out to more serious than even she expected, but her guiding light is her determination. Opposite Tessa's strong will is the character of morik who appears both fiercely loyal and wise but also carries an innocence along with an intensity. Together the two create an interesting dynamic that gives an overall uplifting and joyful read with a unique twist.

This is one of my favorite books from Melissa Haag. I've re-read this so many times, I'm glad I have digital, a paperback would be worn out! Even though this is a YA book, adults will also enjoy (I'm 54). I have all of Melissa Haag's books so far, really enjoy her stories (she also writes adult books under- MJ Haag -also awesome books). Melissa Haag is the only author that I have ALL of the books she's published so far. She can get you so involved with her writing, you can't put her books down, & you feel all the character's emotions!

I lost myself in this book! I can think of several plot lines that Miss Haag could use to continue the story. I can honestly say that I have no idea why I began reading paranormal romances? What? I can only say that I really enjoy Melissa Haag's books. This book involves a young lady and her family dealing with a 200 year old problem/curse and the demon(?) who the problems began with. The story weaves itself in a way that I did not want to stop reading it. I finished it on Thanksgiving and every spare moment away from the festivities I kept sneaking reads. When I finished it I sat up and said to my wife "that was a good book." I stand by is a good book! Enjoy!

I would like to thank the author Melissa Haag and Never Too Old for Y. A and N. A Books for allowing me to read this book for a honest review. Tessa is a sixteen year old girl that lives with her mother, aunt Grace, Grandma and Grand aunt Danielle. She has the gift or the cursed that when she touches a boy, she can see her future with him, but the boy always dies at a young age. Tessa must choose a boy before she turns seventeen, the problem is that she cannot choose and condemn someone to an early grave. After an incident at school, Tessa and her family move to a nearby town, then she discovers the truth behind her family gift and meets a demon of chaos, who knows more about her family past than her own family. Will Tessa choose a boy and condemn him to a early death or will she remove her family curse once and for all? I literally couldn't put this book down I started one Friday night and finish it early evening on Saturday, I just loved how the author developed the characters within the story, the involment of each secondary character had a purpose within the story and the final ending. In other words I love this book, I would read it again just to remember the relationships that were formed. I loved MORIK, the way his character introduces himself to Tessa and then how you end up falling for his flaws and his virtues, he was not your typical knight in shining armor but someone who no matter what has your back. I like the friendship of Tessa with Beatriz, there were parts that made me laugh and cry because of those two. I truly love the ending of the story and I would love to read more about the romance between the characters and how they fall in love by spending time together and getting to know each other even though they were different in many aspects they both have a happy ending.
