Touching the Love of a Texas Sunset by Eryn Grace

*** BASED ON CHRISTIAN MORALS--CHRISTIAN ROMANCE ***

Jaimee Sherman has to leave her job in Seattle to sell her brother's house in the Three Cross, Texas area. Christian recording artist Austin Cole lives on the ranch beside the home. Since his wife, Niki, is pregnant, they ask Jaimee to help them. In exchange, they'll fix up her brother's house and sell it for her. Jaimee loves her job and falls for one of the ranch hands who's also a member of Austin's band, Mac Cooper.

Jaimee realizes she's in over her head trying to keep the secret of her past non-Christian life while taking care of Austin's home and dating Mac. It's not until her ex-boyfriend shows up on Austin's doorstep and takes her hostage that she has to come clean and tell the group about being held in an evil cult growing up.

I enjoyed the first book in the Three Cross Faith series so I wanted to continue and read the second book, Touching the Love of a Texas Sunset. Instantly, I liked the characters of Jaimee Sherman and Mac Cooper. I was intrigued that Jaimee had a lot of baggage and wasn’t raised as a Christian. When Mac buys her a Bible, she is touched and starts reading it. She is so open to learning more about the Christian life. I liked how Eryn Grace used a character like Jaimee to show that when a non-Christian opens their heart and mind, they will not be disappointed and will be blessed to receive new life as a Christian. It was truly a joy to see how Jaimee understands how important Jesus is in her life when before she knew so little about the Christian faith. No matter what age a non-believer finds herself or himself at when they learn about Jesus, it’s never too late to accept Him as Savior. When a surprising event happens during the story, Jaimee realizes that she now has the courage to do the right thing to put away some bad people. I don’t want to say too much and spoil the plot for any reader so won’t say anymore about this development. Mac is a wonderful hero and the perfect guy for Jaimee, even though she protests about the whole dating thing at times. I enjoyed reading about Jaimee’s special musical talent that she shares with Austin’s band. I also liked reconnecting with the characters, Niki and Austin from Book One. It was wonderful to read about their growth as a family unit. This is a great series because I like reading about Christian musicians and their trials and joys in life. In each book the characters are well-developed, and they also have a sense of humor which I appreciate while reading Christian fiction.
