Towards the Sun by Beverly Crawford

Even before the wheels of the jet touched down on the runway at LAX, I knew it was too late to turn back. Something much greater than my desire alone was drawing me inexorably forward, just as it had led me westward, towards a destiny I knew was mine to claim. Would I be like Icarus and fly too close to the sun? Would its seductive brightness blind me to what was real, or would it suffuse me with a warmth and brilliance that was truer than anything I had ever known? The movie star and the soccer mom. Who says dreams don’t come true?

About the Author

Beverly J. Crawford is the nom de plume of a writer, who lives a crazy and wonderful life chasing after her two delightful teenagers, four cats and one dog. Her hobbies and interests include metal detecting, scrapbooking, genealogy, beachcombing and crafting. Her big white minivan is always on the road, looking for adventure and ferrying the kids and all their friends to and fro. Favorite destinations: the drive-thru ice cream parlor and the neighborhood pool. These are the days she will remember most fondly.

Two of Ms. Crawford’s short stories will appear in this year’s From Women’s Pens’ Christmas anthology. Her young adult novel, My Mom Is Ruining My Life, will both be released by Annie Acorn Publishing LLC towards the end of December, 2011.

She is a founding member of From Women’s Pens – A Cooperative of Women Writers.

Wow, was that short. The last one I bought from this author was a real book. I don't care to purchase a 5 page note.

Wow! This one really got to me, reminding me that the best things in life often require taking a chance. Not only did the story capture my imagination immediately, but the words themselves added a level of enjoyment that is often missing in modern literature. One of the most beautifully written stories that I've ever read.
