This was a true take your breath away thriller! I was a little concerned in the first chapter or so, the story does start a bit slowly, but it turns out that it is vital to the rest of the story having such an impact. This story is so realistic and so plausible that it will shake any reader to their core. Kara lives a fairly boring life and can't wait to get away to the big city to go to nursing school. Little does she know what's in store for her. A lie told to protect her winds up causing her a lot of pain and terror. The bad guy in the story is so bad that you don't even have any place for sympathy for him. He's just crazy and bad! Sometimes bad stuff happens to good people, and this book brings that home to the reader. There was a really great, creepy, ending too. This will definitely be on my favorites list for a long time to come!

The beginning was a little confusing to me. I had to re-read some parts to keep track of what was going on, but shortly in (I’d say roughly by Chapter 3) I had everything sorted out. I needed to pay a little bit closer attention to who the characters were that I was following. I’d say a good three-quarters of the book, the chapters are separated by the individual character telling their side of the story and I think I failed to make that connection immediately. I was sucked into the story in no time. I had figured out the “idea” of the story line once I figured out the beginning (and was no longer confused) but I can also say that while I guessed at the story line, the book was full of twists and turns. I would definitely call this one a page turner. I could not put it down (and I couldn’t turn the pages on my Kindle Fire fast enough!) It was different from the typical “murder mystery” type that I enjoy reading. It was definitely more of a… I guess, suspense would be a good word. It kept me on the edge of my seat as to what would happen next. I really did enjoy this book and would recommend it for anyone who enjoys suspense or even if you are a murder mystery reader, you may enjoy this one. It lacked the mystery in my opinion, but definitely made up for it in the page turning thrills. Definitely something I would classify as a “really good” read! Disclosure: I received a copy of this e-book for free in exchange for a review. All opinions are 100% my own.

This was one of those books that I just couldn’t put down. I literally had to force myself to put the book down to go to sleep the first night and picked it up first chance I got the next day to finish it up. Then, of course, was disappointed when it was over…only because I wanted more! The author is extremely talented when it comes to creating characters that you have to remind yourself are just that…characters in a novel.  This is the first book by Melissa Foster that I’ve read. After reading Traces of Kara, I have to add her other novels to my reading collection, too! If you enjoy thrillers and suspense, then this is definitely a read for you!

Traces of Evil This is the fourth novel by internationally best selling author Melissa Foster. Her novels defy shelving into a certain genre. She writes beautiful stories sometimes with a little magic, sometimes with some heartbreak, and as with Traces of Kara a frightening tale of obsession and madness. They always have strong characters and voices.  Roland Greer is a mentally and physically scarred man we learn is searching for his sister Marissa. They were separated as young children for an as yet unnamed reason but the reader gets the impression it was a frightening perhaps dangerous event.  Kara Knight is a young beautiful woman who has survived a disastrous marriage, divorce, and a mother who still believes the marriage could be saved if Kara would just listen to Daryl her ex. She has just received an acceptance to the University of North Carolina's nursing school program. It is a dream come true. Her life is finally taking the direction she wants, she can leave her job at the local power plant, and move from Maryland to North Carolina. Everything seems perfect. This novel is a roller coaster of emotion. Suspense, fear, anger and death. The characters you thought you knew, change before your eyes. It's impossible to tell more details without spoilers. I could not put this book down, other than when the fright and emotions became so strong I had to get up and walk away for some breathing time! I highly recommend this exciting novel to lovers of suspense and danger. I do suggest you not be alone while your reading this!!!

If you are a fan of Melissa's contemporary romances-either the sexy or the sweet ones (that she writes under the name Addison Cole)-which I am-you will not believe this one! It is SPINE CHILLING. A psychological thriller at it's best. The ending gave me goose bumps! Kara has a twin of whom she has absolutely no memory. They were separated when they were very young. Her Mom took her away and they started a new life. But the twin never forgot her--obsession is the prevalent word. He finds her---- "Born together-Die together" is his mantra-- Melissa Foster has done a superb job and I recommend this to any one--one word of advice--don't read late at night!!

This was a great suspense. It is action packed and keeps you on your toes throughout. Its hard to give too many details without spoilers, but I will say what I can to hopefully try to get you to read it yourself. Kara is trying to get out of her hometown to pursue her dream of going to nursing school. She has quite a few things to get away from including a cheating ex. Her mother really just wants her to be happy but their levels of communication can have issues at times. One day while at work in the local plant she is abducted by a man she does not know. This starts a chain of events that lead to her remember things from when she was a child and fighting back to try to find a way out of her captivity while finding out the truth in her mixed up memories. This is a well-written suspense story with strong psychological issues. It take place at a good pace and you fight along with Kara to figure out what is going on and who this man really is. If you are looking for a good suspense I highly recommend you pick this one up.

I loved this one!  Big old creepy power plant - on the cusp of being shut down so nearly deserted, a stormy night, a disfigured villain, and a helpless victim - What's not to love?  It doesn't take long for Kara to be off the grid before her mother begins to worry.  She pays a visit to the local P.D. and ends up telling her post high-school boyfriend that she thinks Kara is missing.  He played a part in Mimi and Kara's past, so knows a little something about what might be going on.   Then you have a sharp-eyed cop from a neighboring town who notices that one of his local "possible" lawbreakers is not following his usual routine and has also gone off the grid.  Slowly all the pieces start to fall together and their path's all start to cross.   The action is non-stop, the victims are piling up, and the villain's ending for Kara is right out of a T.V. show.  Loved the way the author wrapped it all up and gave the story closure.   If you like thrillers, add this one to your list!  Melissa Foster is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

Kara Knight has an evil twin she didn't know about, who kidnapped her and is determined that they will die together just as they were born together. Her mother has been hiding the secret for years. Will the mother be in time to save her daughter and son? Obsession can cause people to act strangely.

A psychological thriller which you will find hard to put down and will want to read from cover to cover. When Kara is abducted her life is turned upside down when she realises who her kidnapper is and what secrets he holds about them both. Not only is Kara's life affected but also her mothers. In the search for Kara her mother has to turn to the police for help before even consulting her husband, which endangers their marriage. The atmosphere that the author creates is first class as Kara discovers more about her past you feel her emotion. The tension and fears that the next of kin feel is exceptional in the search to find where Kara is and who has taken her. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat and makes you believe you are there watching and noting everything that is going on, bringing the book to life. This story will make you ask questions about any gaps or things you cannot remember in your own past. An extraordinary theme to a book where the kidnapped victim finds out things about herself which in her deep conscious she already knew. Whilst on the other side her mother has to reveal the truth which she thought she would never have to, not knowing how much will this damage them now and in the future. Expertly written and a real page turner which keeps the reader enrapt and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good psychological thriller.
