Traces of Truth by Connie Yeager Rone

Serial killer… The two most dreaded words in any city. The citizens of New Hampton would never be the same. Someone who thrived on the smell of death was in their midst. Fear gripped the city. Who would be the next victim?

A perfect family…a perfect career…a perfect lie. Detective Montana Barone’s life could have been compared to what we now think of as a 1950’s sitcom. The truth his mother withheld when he was young was not meant to harm, but to protect her son. No one would have ever suspected that this deceptive act, even though she had good intentions, would in time create such horror and result in so many bizarre deaths.

Looking into a person’s past usually makes us more capable of understanding the reasons behind certain actions, both good and evil. In this spectacular novel, the legacy that unfolds before your very eyes is not exactly as it appears. What seemed to be the right thing to do at the time, comes back to haunt everyone involved. Unknown to him, Detective Montana Barone has lived his entire life engulfed in a lie. A lie that would take him to the very core of grief. Unbelieving at first, Montana sets out to find the answers. The more involved he became, the more he uncovered only bits and pieces…or should we say, “Traces of Truth…”

how many different publishers will this author use before realizing the book may just not be that good

From the first paragraph, I was hooked! The way the first few lines read was almost like poetry! I couldn't wait to find out where the next body was going to pop up! Connie Yeager Rone definately has a vivid imagionation. Can't wait for the sequel.

Traces of Truth is the best book I have ever read! The way Connie Yeager Rone writes about her characters I soon became so involved with them and their plight, that I felt like they were part of my family! I really truly loved this book. Her style of writing is unique and so descriptive you almost feel like you are standing right beside her characters! John Grisham, Mary Higgins Clark, Tom Clancy, move over and make room for the next great author! Connie Yeager Rone is going to make her mark in the book world, that's for certain! Traces of Truth would be a blockbuster at the theater!

I read Traces of Truth several times and each time it became a better, more intriguing novel. The characters wove in and out and came together to form an unusally dynamic story. Having had a peek at her next novel, all I can say is just wait for her next one. It's dynamite.

Normally I am not a mystery reader, in fact, I read this book because it was recommended by a friend. Once I started the book, I just couldn't put it down. I was so tempted to cheat and look at the ending. Connie Yeager Rone, I feel, wrote this book with feelings that were passed on to the reader. Each character seemed to become a real person. I liked the main characters, Montana, Josh and Eden. I especially liked the fact that Montana was capable of making mistakes, such as putting the wrong person in jail. Also, it was great reading a good book without foul language. I feel this was a good mystery and a plot that kept you guessing. Thanks Ms. Rone for the hours of enjoyment of reading your book and I look forward to reading the next book. Can't wait to find out what Montana will be up to and what mysteries lies ahead for him, Josh and Eden.

THIS STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE BRINGS BACK MANY FOND MEMORIES OF DAYS GONE BY AND MY CHILDHOOD YEARS. WHILE ALL SEEMED 'PERFECT', THERE WERE,IN REALITY SKELETONS IN EVERYONES' CLOSETS. ALTHOUGH THIS BOOK IS FICTION, THE EVENTS AND MANY TWISTS OF FATE COULD HAVE BEEN REAL. I LOVE THE WAY THE AUTHOR DEVELOPED ALL THE CHARACTERS NOT ONLY WITH UNIQUE NAMES, BUT WITH PERSONALITIES THAT YOU COULD EITHER LOVE OR HATE. THE PERSONALITIES PORTRAYED CONTINUALLY REMINDED ME OF INDIVIDUALS I HAD MET IN MY LIFETIME. THIS BOOK LEFT ME ENDEARED TO THE 'GOOD GUYS' AND A COMPASSION FOR THEIR TRIALS AND TRIBULATION. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT BOOK AND KNOW THAT IT WILL BE WRITTEN EQUALLY AS WELL AND CAPTIVATING!

I hate to use words like 'riveting' or 'spellbinding', but that's exactly what this book is! Connie Yeager Rone is a writer who knows how keep the reader's interest. I love a tale that spans the generations. 'Traces of Truth' begins in the mid-1940's and continues through the 1990's and three generations; while keeping the reader's attention. It's intriguing and as much fun as a roller coaster with all it's ups and downs and quick turns. It definitely has the potential for a summer blockbuster movie! Can't wait for the sequel 'Traces of Lies'!

There are many characters in this story. I guess the main one would be Montana Skylar Barone. The book begins in the year 1947 and ends in our present time. We (the readers) see how it all began. We see and understand every side of what really happened. We see the truth! Scheming grandparents divided twin boys from an innocent mother, a daughter kidnapped, lies of omission, they all equal serial killer!

Once the reader is in 1999, bits and pieces of the past come together to form what must be the ultimate dysfunctional family! Montana is a detective in New Hampton who is on the trail of an elusive serial killer. Once of the victims had been his sister.

*** The motive of the killer is chilling, proving that even he lie by omitting information can be as harmful as an uttered lie. Author, Connie Yeager Rone, weaves a tangled web of jealousy, lies, and betrayal that will have the readers turning the pages quickly to see what happens next. Great reading here! ***
