About the Author

Arthur Waugh (1866-1943) was an English author and critic; two of his children, Alec and Evelyn, went on to be writers as well. He wrote the first biography of Tennyson (1892), and he was the literary critic of The Daily Telegraph for twenty-five years. His published works range from poetry to criticism.
