Overview

I hadn’t set foot in the human world for more than a few hours in over three and a half months. Sure, I was stronger and faster than I’d ever been before, and I had a shiny new sword, but I was seriously chocolate deprived. I don’t recommend quitting cold turkey. And the new sword was a problem — to my mind, anyway. It represented all the expectations of a powerful father and a new otherworldly life. A life that wasn’t the one I’d worked so hard to build. It also represented the responsibility I had to bring my foster sister Sienna to … what? Justice? I didn’t know if that was even possible. What I did know was that Sienna wouldn’t stop, and that I couldn’t just leave everything up to fate and destiny … or maybe I was. Maybe I was doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing. If you believed in that sort of thing.
I just hoped that before the chaos and mayhem renewed, I’d manage to get my hands on some chocolate. It didn’t even have to be single-origin Madagascar. I was utterly prepared to lower my standards.

Book three of a series, 230 pages, cost $5.00. Stand alone. Book four will be published in fall of 2014. This is a paranormal book. It has a lot of spells magic, blood, guts ,gore, violence and death. There are all sorts of unhuman creatures locked in a war of good verses evil. Even more creatures are introduced in this book. The series is action filled. It is well edited, has a smooth flow and well defined characters. At times, the intense violence and mayham were disturbing. Sienna is up to her old tricks, has become even stronger and Jade finds herself in a battle with her sister to save all forms of live. There is a bit more humor in this book. I am glad, because the book is so intense, it needed the comic relief. For ages 18 and up. There are a few mistakes in this book, such as saying some things happened for the first time, but they had occured in the earlier books. Not a big deal, but it seemed as if the author does not know her own work. For adults. Recommended. AD

A fun tale of a clueless young woman who thinks she has a minor gift at witchcraft discovers it isn't quite as minor as she believed. for those of us who bumble through life this is a fun story.

I've been looking for a good urban fantasy author to fill in the times when I'm lusting for something to read but my other favorites are between their publishing cycles and now I have one. This is a great series with interesting characters, plot, and action and can hardly wait for the next one. Highly recommended.

The third volume in Doidge's urban fantasy series picks up three months after the second book. Jade is on a mission to kill her evil foster sister and rescue her kidnapped friend. But even with the assistance of various vampires, werewolves, and witches, she is in way over her head. Jade is a terrific protagonist: snarky, loyal, tough, and self-deprecating. I love the interaction between Jade, Kandy, Kett, and Mory. My only complaint is that we saw nothing of Desmond until the last third of the book. Hopefully the next volume will resolve the will they/won't they dance between Jade and Desmond. Recommended to fans of Shannon Mayer, Gail Carriger, Zoe Archer, and Devon Monk. -- lyradora
