About the Author

Karen A. Raposa, RDH, MBA is a registered dentalhygienist and mother of a son with autism. She has written textbookchapters, magazine articles, and continuing education materials onpatients with autism and developmental disabilities. Ms. Raposalectures internationally at professional dental and dental hygienemeetings.

Steven P. Perlman, DDS, MScD, DHL (Hon) is GlobalClinical Director of the Special Olympics Special Smilesprogram.  He also is Clinical Professor of Pediatric Dentistryat the Boston University School of Dental Medicine and works inprivate practice in Lynn, Massachusetts.
