I'm one of the few that has not gotten involved in American Idol over the years, and what's become of who after they did or didn't win during the season they were on. Granted, Jennifer Hudson has crossed my path, and I know other fans of Clay also like other artists I enjoy. One of them is Linda Eder, which is the only reason I bought this album. The duet of "Crying" is the best I've heard out of all the duet versions that have come out over the recent years. Arrangement is perfect, and both Clay's and Linda's inflexion and different take on bending some of the notes make this a unique gem of a track. I hope it makes it to a single. What really got me was how much I am enjoying the entire album. The Great American Songbook is not dead, and someone as young & talented as Clay has taken it on with great admiration and care in what has been presented for us. The Deluxe Edition is the one to get, so you have the bonus tracks, plus a DVD of how the album came about and one live performance of Clay's upcoming PBS special of "Build Me Up Buttercup" that is not part of the album itself. Clay does "Misty" beautifully, and I'm sure if Perry Como was still alive, he'd give Clay a very enthusiastic round of applause on the great cover of "It's Impossible". I hope Clay continues to move in this direction. Superb album all the way around.

Listened to the snippets today. Sorry to say this cd is BORING. Not one upbeat song - just ballads.

Unbeliveable magical album. Clay is at his best and his voice is made for these smooth and jazzy songs. The emotion, phrasing and intonation are outstanding. Definitely songs that make you want to dance. The orchestion is outstanding and "Crying" with Linda Eder is so beautiful. Not a song that I do not enjoy on the album.
