It was late at night, and Amy just wanted a quiet glass of wine in the nearly empty hotel bar. That was where she met Bill, the bartender, and where she saw the display he had made of the collected trophies of his life. Most of them were of purely sentimental value, but at least one of them was worth some money. And Amy was going to need money soon.

I was born in London, England, and emigrated to the United States with my family when I was three years old. After graduation from a high school in East Suburban Minnesota, I went to college for a journalism degree.
