by Bonnie McKee

Unlike most of her teen pop peers in the early 2000s, Bonnie McKee gets writing credits for all the music and lyrics on her debut album. But though a songwriting team like the Matrix isn't involved, Trouble's producers (Rob Cavallo and Bob Power) have ensured that it features a slick, radio and video-ready sound that's comparable to what's out there. McKee too, as a songwriter, focuses on familiar themes of adolescent empowerment and the ways of the heart. One of the album's best moments is "A Voice That Carries," which winds rangy acoustic guitar effects around a prideful tale of modern cowgirl mosey. "I don't need anybody to lead the way," she sings. "I've got a voice that carries...Gonna carry me down to L.A." Lead single "Trouble," "January," and "When It All Comes Down" all pulse along on electronic percussion and multiple layers of crackling guitar effects, and McKee herself is surrounded by multiple vocal tracks. Slower material like "Sensitive Subject Matter" and the ballad "Honey" also showcase her voice, which is stronger and more expressive than the Avrils and Britneys of the world.

The first time I heard her song "Somebody" I asked myself, WHO is this voice? and thought I have GOT to get this album. I bought her CD, and fell in love with every song on there. Bonnie is an amazing songwriter with an amazing voice to match. In addition to being a great artist, she's also an awesome person. She's just so sweet and genuine, and appreciates her fans. I recommend this cd to anyone and everyone.

This girl has a AMAZING voice for her tiny little body. She is gonna be huge. She is real and thats one thing that i like about her. But that voice... wow

Bonnie McKee has amazing talent for a 19 year old. She has a beautiful voice, and suprisingly writes all of her own songs based on personal experiences or feelings, which you don't see in most singers these days. The all time number one of this album, 'Trouble', depicts being taken over by the lust of a "hawk", and 'Somebody' reassures that there IS somebody out there for you. I love Bonnie's music, and I recommend her music to all of my friends!

This CD is truly a masterpiece with soul and emotion built into every song. Her voice and lyrics really impress and have a story behind it all.

Some friends and I saw Bonnie in concert at Lsu a few weeks ago. Right after the concert we went and bought her CD. Her CD is full of great lyrics that anyone can relate to. Her songs are about reality and what really happens in life. Go get her CD!

Flowing along the same vein as Sarah McLachlan and Carole King, new comer Bonnie McKee breathes fresh air back into pop music. For too long, the pop scene has been dominated by oh-so-young singers who play little part in the composing of the CD. This is not the case for Bonnie McKee, while she is young (a tender 20 years old) she wrote all the lyrics for her 2004 release. Writing with an honesty and openness that at times could make the faint of heart blush (Troubles), Bonnie draws the listener in with her stunning vocals. One of the most creative tracks on the CD (in my opinion) is I Hold Her. There is no set chorus and a large portion of the song is simply her vocalizing. A Voice That Carries is sure to be the twentysomething woman's cry of independence. Open Your Eyes is another beautiful piece full of eloquence that every woman who has ever broken up with someone wishes they would've had the forethought to say. As one of the lyrics in A Voice That Carries states, one day everyone will be screaming her name.

Not only does Bonnie McKee have an amazing voice, but she also writes all of her own songs. "Somebody" and "Trouble" are great but don't think that these are the only songs that are worth listening to on her album! All her songs are fantastic! Trust me once you listen to her songs, you're gonna run out the door to go buy her cd!!!

Bonnie has one of the best voices ive heard in a long time! Her best song is "Somebody", in which she really emphasizes her talents through the song. Some of her other songs, such as "Trouble" take a different tone, adding a good mix to this CD. She doesnt stray away from sensitive issue, and she is willing to have fun in her songs! Buy this!

This is one great CD, and I mean it. The best $14 I have ever spent. I enjoy every single song, which is unusual, especially "Somebody" and "Marble Steps." Bonnie writes all of her own music and lyrics and that is pretty awesome for a nineteen year old. Her voice is so pure and you never get tired of it. I highly recamend this CD, you'll be addicted.

I was a big Avril fan before I heard Bonnie, and since I was starting to get "Avriled Out", I bought Bonnie's cd. The first song, Trouble, is amazing! It's very catchy, and I couldn't believe she wrote all the songs on her own! My favorites were Trouble, Somebody, I Hold Her, and Confessions of A Teenage Girl, not that the rest weren't as awesome, but these ones really stood out! Bonnie is amazing, and I hope she gets the publicity she deserves! 10 stars!!

This CD is a must have for anyone who likes just amazing music and catchy lyrics. I've been listening to Bonnie Mckee now for a little over half a year and I can still turn on her CD and be caught up in the songs. It's great music to dance to and it's one of those CD's you have to listen to all the way through, you don't just skip around to the "good songs" because they are all good.

This CD is definitly worth every penny! A unique voice, beauty, and brain this is girl has it all. Her music moves between pop, rock, folk, and I swear to god a hint of celtic ('I hold her'.) the CD kicks off with 'Trouble' one of the awesomer pop like diddy's. It's in good company with 'Somebody' (a beautiful stand out single and track), 'Janurary', and 'Confessions of a teenage girl'. However don't write her off as just another pop princess... Tracks like 'A voice that carries', 'Marble Steps', and 'Senstive Subject matter' also a bit of a folk rockier type of girl. 'Green grass' shows a bit of a jazzier feel and by far the oddest/uniquest track 'I hold her' shows a bit of a folky celtic sound. It'll definitly grab your attention but its well deserved! I'd love to hear Bonnie's amazing voice on more tracks with that type of style! Overall a beautiful CD and an amazing buy!

After I heard "Somebody", I fell in love. The thing that first caught my ear on this was the most beautiful, simple piano part. She also has an inflection in her voice that says she really feels what she is singing. All her songs are very personal, almost like the lyrics are cut-and-pasted from her life. If you want to take a listen for yourself, four of her songs are available on her web sight.

Bonnie McKee's Trouble is a must have for anyone growing up in today's world. In just 12 tracks you experience the good, the bad, and the ugly. In has the amazing ability to capture the emotions felt throughout an entire lifetime in about an hour's time.

Bonnie Mckee is an awesome upcoming musical artist. Not only does she have an amazingly beautiful voice, but the plays the piano and wrote every song on "Trouble" herself. She is true talent. This album is definitely a must have for music lovers.

Bonnie McKee, a new artist, a rising star, the next big thing.. all of the above. Why you ask?! Because not only is Bonnie a fabulous singer, she has true talent! Often compared to Vanessa Carlton, for her piano skills. Bonnie is truly an artist. All the songs on this album were written & composed by Bonnie herself. Her talent & maturity resonate strongly throughtout every track. Trust me, I'm about as eclectic as they come, and Bonnie is my new favourite artist. So, if you haven't given Bonnie a chance yet, get out there and buy her album today!

Its amazing to see an artist come out so real and write all her songs...I dont usually listen to pop/rock...Im more of a R&B person but Bonnie Mckee has surely grabbed my attention!! Bonnie is a young new artist who writes and sings her own songs. I like her because she has a refreshing new sound that you don't hear lately, it's not completely from the editing room.

Her music is really awesome...a mix of piano and pop! Her lyrics are cool! I like the way she writes about her life experiences and uses them for inspiration! I also LOVE her PINK hair! lol
