Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Semitrailers, tankers, and carriers are just some of the different types of trucks that people use. Read to find out the purpose of the different trucks. There are color photographs throughout the book with captions and/or labels describing the parts of the truck. For instance, labels point out the truck's chassis, axles, valve, and winch. See the mobile home inside the cab of a long distance truck driver. Readers will find a table of contents along with a glossary and index. Each chapter is two pages. Some children may need support to read the text and to navigate the informational text features. For additional information about trucks, there is a list of three web sites to explore. To learn more about other machines, readers may wish to investigate the other books in the "Machines on the Move" series which include tractors, planes, submarines, and four other vehicles. The books in the series have a similar presentation; no consultant is listed for the series. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
