‘It’s going to take a fight, I know that. But it’s more than just a fight for my life. It’s a fight for my soul and my soul mate.’

Jazzy Williams is not your average coffee-loving teen. She's battling depression, an overprotective big brother, and a depressed mother, all while trying to make friends at her new school. In the first week, she meets a gorgeous green-eyed hottie who turns out to be more than just some high school crush -- he's more than human. And she unknowingly enrages a dangerous breed of demon who wants her soul and life as payment. With the help of supernatural friends and protectors, Jazzy thinks she's safe until what remains of her family is put in danger. Does Jazzy have what it takes to save her family, life, soul, and soul mate, or will all be lost?

True Connection by Rachel Walter is a good book. With a terrific plot and an enormous cast of characters, Walter has undertaken a daunting task. New twists and demonic creatures, graphic fight scenes and a well written love story. It drags a bit, naturally, and I found myself losing large sections of time and events that I thought were presented in a manner of importance, were washed over in the aftermath. The details approaching these events, the art show for example, were rich with emphasis. But the event never happened in the book, just glossed over as a success in the wrap up. So, although the time factor became an issue, the story and characters are really well done.

I bought this book bc I follow the author on Twitter. I read the synopsis and it sounded good . So on a whim i bought it. It started of a little slow and took a little time to pick up. But when it finally did pick up... whoa. OK! So here is the break down NO SPOILERS. It is a young adult book with adult undertones so pre-teens tread carefully. The main character, Jazzy, deals with some heavy stuff that darn near rips your heart out and dances on it. It probably will bring tears to your eyes so have a box of tissues handy. When she meets her possible soulmate she doesn't jump in head first, no regrets. It takes her time to warm up to the idea, which i feel gives a VERY realistic vibe. Also, unlike some books that like to draw out the secret until the end or the sequal, she has an honest moment where the characters hash it out and answer so many questions we as readers may have. Its a cool, truthful moment between a super-natural guy and human girl who has it dropped her lao; brilliant! And Honestly- I love this book. I haven't finished it and I already bought the sequel. If you want true love, grit and action then GET THIS- LIKE NOW! If youre looking for a frilly teen love story, ok get this book... but be prepared for something genuine that will test your threshold for tears, push the limits of what we expect from love stories, and change your outlook on the supernatural. I recomment this book!

This story was amazing! When it started out I thought it was another high school boy meets girl and falls in love. It is so much much more than anything like that. Yes there is a romance, but for me the focus of the book was the main character Jazzy and her family. The family goes through a traumatic experience and lean on each other while their whole world changes. I just loved the paranormal theme of the story. It had a good diversity of paranormal creatures that I don't usually see in stories. It was action packed and full of suspense. I can't wait to read the next installment and find out where Walter takes us next.
