although i'm not sure which side of the delicate insanity/genius barrier mckenna's theories fall on, i found this to be a fascinating book. the first volume, if nothing else, is a well written adventure story, with plenty of philosophy and humor to keep things going. the second volume, a collection of articles, essays, and interviews, was equally thought provoking. that i've personally never used any psychedelics speaks to the fact that this is not just a 'drug book.' definitely worth the five bucks.
