It is 1947 and Rob and Tuck are headed for trouble. The Family has seen this coming for a long time, but no one could have foreseen what they are actually up to, even while Rob's father prepares for a journey during which he will come face to face with more truth than he is prepared for.
During the space of a few months, old memories will become present-day realities for Thao and for Kate, Kenna's odd little family will be threatened with separation, while Carrie's work at the law office will solve a series of mountain murders...almost.
Sometimes boys have to be challenged to become men. It remains to be seen if Rob and Tuck will rise to the challenge or not.

About the Author

Heidi Peaster was born into a sprawling, Southern family and was raised on sprawling, Southern family stories. They always fascinated her. As she states: "Every family has a story; some of them almost impossible to believe."
Over the past forty years, she has crafted the story of the fictitious McKenna family, an historical saga beginning in the 1800's. Written almost entirely in long-hand, the books took shape during naptime as she and her husband, Roger, raised their own three biological daughters, fostered some thirty-something special needs children and ultimately adopted six. As Peaster says: "The McKennas helped me raise all those kids."
After moving from the Atlanta area to Clarkesville and being published in several magazines, Peaster released the first in the McKenna Chronicles in 2012. The immediate response was such that she released seven volumes in the first year. She is thrilled to think that her alter-family is making friends, first throughout the state, and now throughout the country.
