Truman is a great book about the life of Harry Truman. Truman isn’t one of the most flashy of presidents, but he did a great job leading this country through difficult times. The book is well researched and expertly written.

One of them, certainly. A straight talker (we could use more of those nowadays, couldn’t we?), Harry Truman was an extraordinary man, formed, in large measure, by his humble beginnings and the strength of the family members who came before him. I learned a lot from this book about Truman’s leadership in World War II and his courage in taking unpopular – but, ultimately, right – stands. A very satisfying read.

Moving Portrait of a Great President. The author, New York Times bestselling author Thomas Fleming, knew Truman and spent time with the President at his home. This book is well written and paints a human portrait of Truman, who, in my opinion, was one of our country's greatest presidents.

I had never taken the time to learn anything about President Truman, but I saw the book, and decided I should learn more about the President who finished WWII. The book is well written, has nice tempo, and gives great detail about the man, and about his Presidency. His decisions ended the war, and helped establish the pathway for our world to recover.

What a waste.  Written on the level of a fourth grader.  The author has obviously lost his ability to be objective.

I have always been a fan of Harry Truman. I was one of his "Policemen" during the Korean War. This book is written at the 8th grade level and I was able to finish it in two readings. The author does not mention any of Harry's shortcommings. Also, he does not mention the trauma of the mind that he must have gone through in deciding to drop the Atomic Bomb.
